i loved the event personaly
the red light green light was enjoyable spent 1 round next to the shai listening to her sing so i could learn the cadence and timing spent another round practicing the controls third round i failed at the end cuz i didnt know i had to press R i laughed waaaay to hard at that one and fourth try i beat it without an issue
the spoopy house is my favorite though think i spent like 3 or 4 hours wandering in it learning the ghosts paths and watnot was a fun challenge
imo prob the reason people hate the event is because theyre used to bull rushing through everything without thinking if they need multiple tries or to have to learn how to do something then its auto bad content to them
As I stated on message #7, in this thread, If you are going to state this one is bad, at least cite your basis of comparison. Also the OP (Anesjka) admits they didn't give the event 20 minutes before making a judgment. I tried out all the events and base my review on what I experienced over a longer period of time. I also cited on the prior message, the best I have seen is the original Guild Wars Halloween (not GW2) that starts on the 18th. Now that you know my basis for comparison, I will start with the following ratings;
My rating *** Audio and Video - The whole area is too bright and cheery for it to be called "spooky". There is no fog, the lighting should be dim but not too dark, and there is no costumes. What I would at least expect to see here is some of the kids from Alejandro farm in their pumpkin ghost costumes. The audio is not that "spooky" either. With the clockwork theme, if I removed all the pumpkins this would look more like a science fair.
My rating ** Games - There are only 3 games I found in this event, overall I give them 2 stars based on the following;
MOD Oog Mk IV vs Mk V
This one is complicated by hidden timers. Ten minute wait time between fights and 2 minutes to post your bets. First you get the quest from Marcellin then wait for the robots to materialize in the nearby field. Next you must have the power core item in inventory to bet on a bot. Dellenoa takes this item and you wait for the fight to start. Win or lose, you still collect the reward from Marcellin, making the whole betting pointless.
House of Horrors
This is more like the House of Dark Souls, I never finished Dark Souls either. I did manage to get 2 chests, the third floor seems to have about 40 to 50 enemies and I think the chest is somewhere on the far wall in that round room. Note: Players are openly talking about a light exploit for this one in chat. I imagine it won't get plugged anytime soon, since most players give up. Also I doubt seeing the enemies is going to help a lot. I am glad the reward isn't that spectacular or I would get upset.
Red Light, Green Light
The issue with this mini game, is another mini game where you must be a twiddle fingers on the keyboard. After a successfully moving forward and not getting shot, you are subjected to balancing your mech and then they shoot you. I never finished it.
My rating * Side Quests - These are far too simple. They have no depth or meaning. Go blunder around and find stuff. Look for a better spot to see the airship. Find the Gosphy might have been a challenge, if it was not for pointers showing me their exact location.
There is little to no in game documentation on this event. The lack of story behind Marni's creations could have been explored. There are no lore quests to make discoveries. Believe it or not, I have been around and seen much worse than this on other games.
This is not bad, it is simply not the best.
Have fun!
It is absolutely rushed content - that much is abundantly clear - but what is there is quite good. It's nice to have activities that are actually a challenge somewhat. I hope they continue to add these types of activities going forward.
The biggest drawback is that there just isn't enough of it (it's about 1/7th of an actual event) and as already said, a lot of it screams 'I'm rushed content'. LooneyYellowBear just above makes some good comments in this regard: Such things like the lighting/mood of the area is incorrect; the MOD Oog Mk IV vs Mk V quest being clearly unfinished and confusing; there is no Black Spirit Quest or mail or otherwise to the same effect directing players to the event location; the complete and utter lack of daily content; the lack of any activity to keep players occupied whilst waiting for these 10 minute timer events to initiate; the fact the area is still flagged as PvP able; and so on.
It shows a lot of promise, I guess we will have to wait until next year to see it in completed form.
I like this event. I like the haunted house, its not that difficult if you are patient.
Ofc those tryhards want to get back to their boring grind spots asap, they cannot appreciate the little things, which casual players enjoy.
Wheeeereeeee is Maaaaarniiii....
Good ideas but needed more polish.
Wheeeereeeee is Maaaaarniiii....
Marni is found standing by the airship, you can interact but there is no quest or knowledge.
Is it just me or does it feel like BDO's days are winding down ?
Why because little time was put into a once a year event that most players will ignore unless it pays a large amount for little effort?
From what iv read this game is far from being in maintenance mode.
The Maze and the Big shai game are fun, it's the lack of a harder mode.
I want more.

Slightly off-topic...
All the mainstream MMOs forums are filled asking about player numbers. The players are being pulled away (this month) by the new shiny MMO by Amazon, New World. I already stated somewhere on these forums, I just don't care for it. It is not "fantasy based" enough to even call it a fantasy MMO. I would call it a life sim but low end fantasy. I didn't care for the character creation at all. My spouse works for Amazon ... thus paid to love it. It is not for me, it will not be for everyone. Give the players ten minutes or 6 months to kick the tires on it, they will return here.
Meanwhile, have fun!
