I wanted to know how we could collect magic shards outside of the CM? I have 258 AP and 316 DP.

Are there any loot areas that are more suitable than others for getting black magic crystals?

Imperial alchemy that's your answer.

In general, the Valencia areas and the Elvia zones are where you'd get Black Magic Crystals. Elvia is going to be far better for it, but I'm not sure how well you'll do there with that gear score. For the Valencia areas, generally, the harder it is, the more likely it is that you'll see Black Magic Crystals drop, but you'll have to look at the drop table to see which ones drop where exactly.

Alternatively, as Senemedar points out, you can get Magical Shards by doing imperial alchemy, though how fast that is depends on your CP. You need 40 seals from imperial alchemy to get one Magical Shard, and you can turn in one medicine box a day for every two CP you have. So, at 80 CP, you could get 1 Magical Shard a day, and at 400 CP, you could get 5 Magical Shards a day. It's nice and steady, but it's certainly true that grinding in Elvia on a regular basis will get you far more. Personally though, I get most of my Magical Shards from imperial alchemy, because it doesn't require spending hours grinding.
