Meh, I'm kind of indifferent about it. I'm not really sure what to think yet. Free stuff is nice, but PA did reserve the right to take the event away whenever. I'm stingy as hell so I personally will just stock up on the food and use it whenever I need. Honestly it's just more of a pain to deal with silver sinks so I might ignore it all together unless I am pvping.

Desert debuff is fine, I don't care too much about that. It's just more of another annoyance than for it to seem "hardcore." I've dealt with it before and it's whatever.

Just my honest opinion though, I may or may not change opinion if I read more of other people's thoughts on the matter. I think there are bigger underlying problems right now in the game, but in regards to the matter at hand, I will leave my vote at that; that I am indifferent.

Slightly off topic: I am wondering about how the Koreans going to deal with this event? Due to Covid, I can't imagine they will be going to Cafe's just for Oasis stuff? NA servers don't even have that stuff to begin with, since no Cafe's to barge into? idk

The desert debuff is just an annoyance. It ain't adds any benefit or fun to the game. Auto pots outheal it, heck top tier classes outheal it by simply attacking, heck if I smash hponhit on my trash class that outheal it aswell. There is absolutely no reason for it exits appart from to annoy the new players.

Same for the compass. Map is a BASIC feature in the mmorpg. removing it is stupid. And it's nto like it would be hard to navigate, or if there would be any point in doing it in the first place, the desert is empty, booring and useless.

You do have a point too, I mean typically speaking, I don't even traverse the desert anymore. I've just been doing dailies just to move onto something else irl. One thing I have been wanting is for other towns to actually be worth living in. Heidel and Velia, tiny bit of Altinova, and MAYBE Calpheon has been the only places i've seen people afk at. It's just sad to see those other towns all abandoned. No one even really talks in the game unless you're in the same guild, or cancerous server chat lol. Kind of a lonely MMO.

I digress though, sorry for bringing it a little off topic, yeah I completely agree with what you said so far, debuff is more of an annoyance. Back then I'd just Space Shift to heal back up anyway when I was actually exploring the game. Then I just realized that it was kind of like other games by Nexon where there is just one town where everyone stays in, and the rest of the towns feel like wasted disk space, unless you count Node Warring I guess.

I also see the other side of the argument too, I know life skillers have been having it rough. It does suck, because the Oasis cron foods seem to be a symptom of a bigger problem. Lifeskilling doesn't make much money in comparison to grinding, and to be fair, it costs a lot to efficiently lifeskill. I skipped that jazz entirely and just went to BA for funs. For you personally, what do you think BDO can do to help lifeskillers? My thoughts were to just increase their silver rates, due to grinding spots rising in silver.

Are there any other people with the counter-side thoughts atm? I am interested to see what people think.

I disagree, it was a good implementation while it lasted.

But this mentality of "But you enjoyed it what about new people??" is completely unreasonable and dumb. Cause you could say the same for ALL events.

Oh but what about the people who got to grind hundrets of crystals in the "Make Magical Shards happen" and new players can't?? What about all the people who couldn't get all the rewards during the "Halloween Attendance Rewards" They want those goodies too??

Just no, it was good while it lasted and new/current players alike will find a way to adapt without it.

The items to heal yourself from desert buffs are some of the most mundane things you can obtain.. Purified Water? It's not hard to get your hands on some...

Step back and look at the bigger picture instead. Finally people who do cooking and farming as a lifeskill will have something to market again. They will be able to sell their meals and special carrots. As for me, I will finally consider cooking seriously for my own buffs.

The TRI: Ramones armor isn't even great. The chest plate has less DP than NARCHILLAN. You know? The gear that you can refine in less than 15min with Beginner Black stones? Yes that one.

I personally don't see anything in the Oasis chest that is not given away in events or tasks ingame already. You can correct me if I'm wrong.

I think the only point in which I can say "this sucks" is not having a compass available anymore. To which my suggestions would be different, not permanently keeping the Oasis NPC. Maybe every few quests in the Valencia Main quests  you can get a 1 day version of these pieces for a temp compass: Part for Explorer's Compass - BDO Codex (THIS IS NOT THE TREASURE COMPASS PIECE.) Or increase their drop rate. Let us rent a 1hr compass for 1 cp at Illehab Oasis? I dont know man, plenty of possibilities.

I mean, I can't speak for the majority, but I have never once bought a compass, a carrot, or any purified waters back before oasis happened lol. Maybe if I node warred more I'd consider it. Especially with how T1's got so messed up right now, the T2 T3 look slightly more appealing, imo. With that being said, I will assume people do in fact buy those items a lot. Don't you think life skillers deserve something better than just selling those things though? Because it seems to me that, BDO is simply increasing the grind spot silver/HR. They have been goal post moving as well, since the introduction of Dead God Armor BS weap armors etc. Inevitable of course, I do not blame them one bit. I feel like Lifeskillers could benefit more if BDO simply improved certain lifeskills. Including Cooking to be honest. Simply give them more money per turn-in. Find a sweet spot and experiment. Then move to another one, like trading or farming or etc.

Again, I think my opinion still stands as I don't care too much if Oasis stays or goes, but, for lifeskillers don't you think they deserve more than just a tiny chunk of change just because Oasis goes away? It makes it seem like they're doing lifeskillers a big favor when in fact the actual bigger picture is just to buff lifeskill, due to A. Goal post moving for extra grind time and B. Grinding spots getting big money, i.e. Elvia, and even Valencia places, iirc?

Also just a quick note, I never used Ramones. Not even for my boss alts lol. I just used Tuvala. I do understand your point, we can't necessarily say: "oh yeah every event and convenience must be experienced by newer players." I suppose the only ones that can really decide that is PA. If it were up to me, I would be focusing on completely different things in the game which would get off topic.

From SEA patch notes:

"* The Oasis event, which began on March 25, 2020, will be coming to an end with the “It’s Raining Loyalties and Dream Chests!” event on November 24 (Wed)."

By removing Oasis vendor now, it would be unfair for new players and future new players. Most of us who have played for the last year have taken full advantage of the cron meals and improved our stats and saved so much silver without having to buy it from marketplace. Most new players won't even be able to afford to buy those cron meals let alone bring their hp stat up. Nobody enjoyed having to deal with the desert debuff; it was removed because nobody enjoyed it. BDO has gotten so much better because of the conveniences and quality of life changes over the years. Players have already been fed up with being forced to use specific draughts and perfumes for certain situations. Why bring back the annoyance of forcing players to buy cron meals, carrots, or compasses? And if those said items are not available on the marketplace, you are forcing everyone to craft it themselves which is more of a time sink that will just drive players away. In today's MMO environment, players do not like it when you take away things from them and this is something you should not take away.

Please do yourselves a favor and do not go backwards. You can't afford to turn away more players when you've lost so many already to New World.

Seriously No,

Im a player that started last season and let me tell you that oasis market as much of a convenience it gave me I detested it because it was killing hige aspect of bdo.

The oasis market who i didnt know of its existence until a month into the game fely like a cheap cheat, yeah I was alone doing everything alone in a mmo or so they say...

You are only thinking about it from your perpective and not from the perspective of those that honed their knowledge to sell good food on market, they only difference now is that you will hold all the green grade gear and weapons more dearly as you wont have acces to oasis gear, me someone who never touched them Im happy to start getting them for my alts instead of just using 5 silver to have an alt geared.

I think it is wonderful that they are removing Oasis for multiple reasons. I ruminate on much of the commonly shared thoughts already presented in this very thread.

With the addition and extension of the event, the game became less of a MMORPG and more of a singleplayer game. With the Oasis shop items being at 1 silver each, one could just click the desired meals without a presence of a chef in the market. With the Ramones set at a certain level you were ready for most of the world of BDO until it caps you at Star's End. In short, a player could breeze through content without a second thought. Desert debuffs were disabled and compasses came easy, making a myriad of items and a Fairy ability inconceivable since they concurrently have no usage in the game. Oasis chests became a big silver inflation that could buy out most of the stuff, leaving a market dry for the majority of time. There's simply too much silver/hr, too much "easy way outs" and too few actual players playing the game.

A new player could catch up to a veteran in an absurd short time. A new meta was presented as such, so the "97% ded content" meme was born. This became a bigger and bigger problem as time went on, not because of the catch up, but because the more this event goes on, the more bad apples it'll attract. The game simply became too easy. Notice how many trolls will leave the game when it ends, and how many will come back to Gathering to supply much wanted items after a long pause. Or how many will shift attitudes towards certain playstyles which is going to be hilarious considering how much Gatherers have been spat since last year. I'll admit I'm talking from experience.

If you are that worried that a new player will face struggles as a result of this event ending, then perhaps you as a veteran should take initiative and mentor them. After all, you've played the game for quite some time now, you know the tips and tricks in the game by now. So communicate, and communicate well so that you don't scare them away. If you are not willing, then stop talking on behalf of new players as you are unwilling to do anything about this issue.

I'm happy to see the Oasis event end.  This is all just my opinion here; not saying people who love it are wrong - but here's my view, whether it's rational or just my feeling:

1 - daily fogan/saunil scrolls

These are so good, and giving them to everyone daily is too easy. I want more people doing Scroll Written in Ancient Language. Additionally, I want Pearl Abyss to have more motivation to improve scroll combination & scroll-related mechanics in general. The Daily Saunil scrolls were too easy but they were like a bandaid covering up a larger issue. Let's take a second look at the marketplace-able scrolls and adjust how they can work, instead.

2 - compass / maps

You can get compass / maps to drop when grinding. If you really need them, pay a premium to the people grinding them. And if not, live without them. You really don't *need* them. They are convenient, but being forced to learn and become personally familair with landmarks, or not being able to freely teleport around as often, can contribute to a feeling of a large, "real" world. It's the difference between knowing the backstreets of a place where you grew up, versus GPSing through the streets of a town you've never been in. It is satisfying to get to know the desert. You feel a little lost at first but it's not so bad and feels good to eventually conquer it and realize you don't get lost anymore.

3 - desert sickness

Yes, it's annoying to get desert-sick. No, that's not actually bad. I'm not great at articulating this kind of stuff and know I'm about to sound stup, but having to think about, consider, and overcome small little challenges or hurdles - like little frustrations - contributes to a feeling of success & immersion in the game. You go into desert first time, heat stroke pushes you out. You carry water in next time, run out sooner than expected, heat stroke pushes you out. You bring a ton of water and store it in Sandgrain, you have a system for gathering it and keeping a specific supply, you've now dealt with this minor hurdle and are a bit of a desert master now. What other zones have weird little hurdles to overcome? You hear other players complain about the desert but you know you've dealt with it and get to feel slightly inwardly smug about it - it was a minor obstacle for you, you've overcome it. They won't compete with you for your spot out there anymore. Desert sickness is cool. It even felt cool to talk to friends IRL about the game, whenever desert sickness came up they'd respond with interest & curiosity, like, "Oh like a survival game? So the desert is really dangerous and you gotta prepare for it?" I mean sure it's not THAT dangerous, in practice it really is just a minor annoyance -- but you DO need to actually concretely prepare for the desert. You need a plan, no matter how simple, even if it's just to rely on self-healing, to deal with heat stroke. And I think needing a plan to go somewhere in a big open world is COOL, because it sets that area apart from all the places where you don't need a plan to go there.

4 - Oasis boxes

I'm excited to see how high accessory prices can inflate to. Places that drop Tungrad accessories especially, should be proving a lot better silver now that there are fewer supply of accessories, due to no more boxes. It's fun grinding places that give small steady income, and big rare drop income. Tungrad accessories will shoot up! Nice.  Anyway, it feels weird to me just how much daily free stuff this game gives. Don't get me wrong, I personally enjoy receiving free stuff, but I think it sort of devalues the items it contains. Players grinding blood wolves for potion pieces should be happy to get a Ruins ring, to sell it for big money - but because every player in the country gets them for free from oasis boxes, the value is nowhere near as high as they could be.

5 - oasis carrots & meals
I don't even lifeskill for profit, but come on. Let these gamers sell stuff that they make. Cron meals are not THAT expensive, but isn't it way cooler for the in-game economy to be an economy of interrelated player transactions? Player 1 gathers, player 2 cooks, player 3 buys & eats? What a system, it's like a circle of life or something. I love that. Having these ccommodity consumable items on an NPC vendor cheapens or s a whole cycle of player to player transaction through the market. I like the idea of a game where players make things for other players. The more intertwined, the better! I want to eat a meal and think "some person made this meal. Maybe this person makes thousands of these daily and is getting rich. Anyway, it just gave me bonus stats and I'm out here grinding. nice!" It's boring if you buy it from an NPC.

6 - oasis gear

Come on. Every character gets PEN Naru for free. If you quest a little further you get other armor/weapons from quests, too. Once per family you get Narcillan. Once per season you get Tuvala. Green gear basically exists only to be eaten by fairies, failstack, or devour.
How many boss alts do you have? How many characters need to be geared? I've got 2 characters in my main gear with gear tagging. I've got 4 characters wearing a blend of tuvala/capotia. The rest have a blend of Naru & quest gear, or are naked. Oasis is so unnecessary. I've never even picked up the Narcillan gear but I could do that on one of my alts, too. If you lose oasis gear, is it that tragic? Is that what your main character uses? How many alts with 200+ AP do you need? Is it really more than a handful? How do you even benefit from that?
