This thread is curious. It's a pretty good life lesson to everyone about doing nice things for people. Take a look at some of the more.... out there opinions in the thread. Be careful who you do favors for. Some people are appreciative of you going out of your way to make things easier on them. Others are manipulators who will take this for granted and even weaponize your good will against you if you should ever stop giving them what they want.

They're was no confusion about the Oasis event. It was made very clear it was a temporary event. It was an act of good faith when times were dark. Take note of the reactions to a good deed. Instead of being thankful for the favor done for them, they'll weaponize it against you. They'll demand it. Instead of it being a favor, they'll insist it's the baseline. Now they'll try to convince you that the favor is not going above and beyond for them, rather not doing the favor is a sleight against them and a negative reflection on you.

This is a SUPER common mental manipulation tactic. It's a favorite of the narcissist. They'll use this tactic to leverage everything they can out of you before moving on. By constantly raising the bar in this manner they can extract as much as they can from you while shifting the guilt on to you as well. They'll happily eat up your good will then use guilt to extract more and more then ultimately try to gaslight you into thinking you're the one in the wrong for not continuing to give to them.

Anyway this event went way longer than I expected so that's nice. A lot of these people seem to not be playing the same game because they couldn't possibly be trying to pull the "think of the new player!!" card after how much easier PA has made it for new players recently.

This change is expected, I am not suprised or upset about the removal of the items, but like PEN Accessory and PEN Boss gear events, PA very poorly executes.  This change does not take into account a serious issue that will exist for quite some time > effect on the market and game economy.  Except for insiders, exploiters, and the top 1% wealth in game, items will be in very short supply for a long time.  The market will be at severe deficit of BMC, Mem frags, Caphras and all meals for the forseeable future.  This is the in-game equivalent of mass shortages of food and toilet paper during the pandemic.  For hoarders that stocked up and those who are far more lifeskill focused, I'm sure they are strongly in favor because they will have an obvious advantage.  I spend far more of my time in combat and prefer pvp and pve grind to other modes of gameplay.  Many argue this will be good to benefit lifeskillers, but lifeskillers are not suffering.  Lifeskills made significant money with imperial turn ins compared to direct market sales and it is now even easier with no competition to perform max turn-ins up to cp limit.  (Balenos meal max price on marketplace 39,000sp x  24per box = 936,000sp  > 1 box at min Imperial turnin Guru I = 800,000 > this return goes up with additional skill/mastery).  This change also benefits one Lifeskill style > Cooking.  It does not really benefit any other lifeskill, outside of possibly farming for carrots.

I cannot agree that lifeskills should have as much profit potential as grinders.  Although against game poilcy, It is possible to macro, or setup your lifeskill empire to require comparatively little effort to make significant profilt with lifeskills, at no risk, and largely afk.  Lifeskillers do not fight for grind spots or have much competition to make large sums of sp (Guru cook and master Alchemist/Trainer so i am very familiar).  I do agree that freebies like Oasis armor and Food/compass/maps need to go away at some point, but PA needs to provide a means to quest or obtain these items without starving the in-game market or forcing players to a style of gameplay they do not enjoy.  I appreciate the addition of Oasis to make things easier on gamers for a short time, and respect the removal, but a transition method of some sort would benefit all.  It doesn't have to be easy mode, but it would help prevent polarizing the community and disgruntling player base.  Economy crashes do reduce player participation and enjoyment.

They're was no confusion about the Oasis event. It was made very clear it was a temporary event.

I repeat: this "temporary" event lasted so long that it simply cannot be removed  because it completely changed the "game image".

Oasis significantly increased playability. Eg. without oasis I wouldn't even start bartering. If they remove the oasis compass oceanic content ceases to exist for me (us) again. If they bring back the desert debuff I (we) will stop playing in the desert again. All my boss alts are older than the seasons. Oasis is their primary equipment. If they remove it, a lot of players will lose even 60-70% of the damage dealt and will die per one hit of the boss. So even more player will stop fighting them. Effect: even more despawns and less boss gear on market.

I'll be honest - I'd prefer they don't bring back desert sickness, but since they are releasing a new zone with Frostbite or whatever, annoying debuffs from simply being in the open world are a thing.

RP wise this could be interesting if these debuffs were uncommon and using a tea made you immune to them for an hour or something, like a food buff you could put on, but often they just return nearly immediately and are just annoying.

As for the vendor itself - I'm fine with this going away.  I can just support the crafting market more.  It's not liek buying these foods from other players will break the bank - assuming the crafting market starts making these again to catch up with the huge backlog we seem to have.

Yes, temporary. It was introduced as a temporary event and now that there's an ending its confirmed as temporary. It was never advertised as permanant.

If you want to quit bartering because you don't want to make a compass every three days, that's really on you. World bosses have been dying because the rewards from most of them are trash to modern BDO standards. They're dying for the same reason that lots of old content has died. They never update the rewards and they fall off into irrelevancy. The two that have the best drops arent dying. I'm not sure why you think boss armors/weapons are going to go up as prices fall through the floor. Pens are sub-15b now at least on NA

Oasis gear has been replaced by Tuvala and guaranteed PENs. I'm not happy to lose the free cron meals and compasses either but really it's not a big deal.

I'm grateful they made the event and extended it but in the end its been made clear to be a temporary event and the new things we have more than make up for it. I'm not on the "thank god it's finally going away" wagon but I think it's a non-issue.

Why everyone is assuming Oasis is not going to be replaced with something similar?

Have a problem reading and understanding a few sentences?

Because Pearl Abyss doesn't understand how their own game works?
