I think oasis should leave, and a new system should be introduced, but also I think it should stay for a bit longer to let players prepare what they need to, the 24th is a bit too soon and people are panicking.
Some kind of journal or quest series to unlock oasis level gear, maybe the quest gear can be enhanced to TRI, just like the accessories.
But the cron meals, carrots, maps, and compass should stay gone. However, I think some event for meals should be released to get more meals on the market.
I more or less agree with Pretz here. Look at the mechanics that Oasis "fixes."
Desert navigation was a novel and interesting concept but really doesn't hold up and isn't that fun. Making it so you can see where you are on the map but not which direction you're going permanently is the ideal solution. And no returning dehydration/hypothermia.
Since the game is moving to a higher "baseline" for gear it seems reasonable for some equivalent vendor for gear to be made available. I think PA is leaving money on the table not instituting that for people buying character slots to level alts.
Meals, carrots, and maps are probably fine to go though I worry about the effect the meals will have on game economy.
Overall I think the oasis is a net benefit to the game and if those things won't be addressed it should just be left as a permanent addition to the game.
