Thanks a lot for posting the link for others. I was both too lazy and having trouble finding it. So i appreciate it.

I've noticed that a lot of people seem to miss the notices that pearl abyss made about their plans for the game once the transfer was done.
I made the suggestion about warbears in 2018 and took a multi-year long hiatus. It's my fault for not keeping up with the notices. I didn't really think they would actually consider it so I ended up posting a similar suggestion. It's insane that we might get it.

◆ There are currently no plans to develop an aerial region. We have received a lot of feedback requesting new mounts, and we are currently testing a variety of mounts internally. However, we’ve yet to settle on a mount that seems to fit the Black Desert motif. Nevertheless, we will continue our research based on your feedback. ◆ As you have suggested, snow bears and O’dyllita giant wolves are also included in our experiment. Also, tier-10 horse, airships, hot air balloons, and water mounts are not going to be released in the first half of 2021. However, a Mythical version of Diné and Doom is planned for release. ◆ These are currently the following in-game mounts: horses, camels, elephants, donkeys, rafts, boats, wagons, sky balloon, and griffon ferry. |
◇ Giant Elks are deer mounts that learn gathering node detection skills ◇ Ferricas are male ferri bird mounts that learn to hop on platforms or race in a Navarne Steppe grand prix ◇ Ferrinas are female ferri bird mounts that offer the same gameplay experiences as its male counterpart ◇ Salun Bears are elite mounts designed for clawing down tough mobs ◇ Salun Wolves are elite mounts designed for mowing down dense mobs ◇ Sea Turtles are aquatic mounts which learn deep sea gathering skills ◇ Raptor Dragons are saunil mounts which offer T7 horse speed ◇ Nagas are giant lizard mounts which boasts a lot of health, inventory slots, and weight for trade goods or trash ◇ Stone Waragons are desert mounts which provide defensive and offensive advantages in node wars ◇ Sea Monsters are aquatic mounts which, much like griffon ferries, substitutes the optional ocean liner to Port Ratt, but in the hopes of decreasing the time to get there (approx. 22 minutes) |

Context
We've got horses, donkeys, camels, and elephants. I think we should continue to diversify our options.
I'd like to see elks, ferricas or ferrinas, and now that O'dyllita update is available why not salun bears and salun wolves. For these large bears and wolves, I don't think they should be leveled the traditional AFK way but from the amount of damage they progressively soak up when killing mobs. It's the same principle with pet leveling. They don't die, but they do experience fatigue and immobility and we feed them then or at a stable. The best skills they learn would of course orient towards debuffs/buffs, AOE, and damage. You do not take damage when mounted, but hard CCs will knock you off.
They won't be sold in a market or found in the wild to be domesticated with ropes and sugar; in fact, everybody can earn theirs through quests. The central marketplace doesn't seem to value meat that well, so until it does salun bears and wolves should be fed with fish and meat we gather, some more nutritious than others based on its rarity.
They could handicap elks, ferricas or ferrinas to a certain equivalent horse tier such as tier 7 courser. I don't think most players want to spend hours trying to awaken endgame courser horses. They could be alternative mounts with unique but not overly potent purposes. The elk mount skillset could focus on detecting available herb gathering nodes. The ferrica or ferrina mounts should focus on hopping skills AKA platforming content for future releases. Thanks for considering.
