This seems like a fairly weird limitation. We have all these different boxes/items that require us to be completely standing still in order to use them. Why is that? Would it be possible to cheat/exploit the game if you can move and open any box in the game? 

Because you can't do the cheering animation while moving.

That's probably the only reason.

u know when u chatting and it goes into the chatting animation, have u ever just quickly gona slip into some gear when u realize u in chat animation and can't? and then, after 999 similar events, u get so blinded with senseless fury that you shout loudly: "THIS IS A RETARDED, INTERRUPTIVE AND NONSENSICAL FEATURE!" ? Ever happened to u? I think it's common... I mean, surely I can't be the only one seeing red here..

It's because it's supposed to be immersive. You're chatting, so therefore you are busy with that. Same with boxes. It's supposed to be an event. You need to stop and open the box, makes perfect sense. It's just that it's super annoying cuz u haz 500 boxes and places to be and things to do.

Then there's the real reason for this: Content. It ALL calculated. How long it gonna take u opening those boxes. what u gona make on average. That compared to normal income.

This the terrible truth: It like this to waste ur time cuz there's too little content. And like, in bdo, it all about those small moments. Like when u riding and hit some little thing u get caught in.. u ever curse about that? Well, it there to complicate the riding so that it is an interesting activity. They do that a lot, complicate things. Game's littered with complications of actions.

Time, my friends; time.

And that's the insult also, that u know they're wasting ur time and u know y also. The argument can be made that u r paying them, with whatever (time, money, presence), to waste ur time like that. But that a fallacy, cuz u never ordered idiot things like that. u wana play nice fantasy sandbox game, not navigate menus and remember when u can or can not push button x or use item y for reason z, where z = retarded.

You can't open them, cause this is a next generation game, and basic features supposed to be heavily limited, othervise it would be not next generation deseing.

You can eat a meal while moving. This isn't about immersion. Please, let's not go there. I can list a million immersion-breaking things without even trying.

The real reason is that the have low quality developers.

It's easier for them to limit the players, rather than doing their JOB and make the game and interface userfriendly.

There is nothing surprising about it for anyone working in software development industry. It's way easier to put condition checks to prevent the user from using something, than actually handling that it will be done correctly.

And this is visible on everywhere in bdo, not just the box opening. They are either incompetent, not caring or simply lazzy, but probably both and heavily limit the users in situations where it's not inteeded.

Just check other not "next generation" games like wow. For some reason you can open shit in that game while moving, equip your stuff etc.
