Idea to Protect AFK Lifeskillers

Yeah, we live in a PVP world, but is there really any reason for allowing a player to kill another that is completely defenseless?  Here's a thought; provide AFK lifeskillers, particularly fishermen and trainers, with an item (some type of trap or explosive) that is armed when the player has been inactive for some period of time.  If the player is attacked by another player once the device is armed, it has a chance to trigger/detonate and kill the attacking player.

I think this would be an interesting mechanic and provide a fair means for a defenseless player to protect themselves while AFK lifeskilling.  The device may or many not go off (RNG), but the attacking player is at risk in this scenario, rather than the current free-kill grief situation that exists now.

This would be hilarious!

Killing afk lifeskillers is just griefing, and not PvP, IMO.

Idea is simple: change Rulupe channel to pve only. Problem solved.

as an afk lifeskiller that mainly does horse training and wagon training afk... u can alrdy advoid pvp easily

afk train or afk fish in safe zones...afk train or afk fish on a 49

if ur afk fishing or afk training outside of a safe zone and ur above 50... thats on u

and before someone tries to say i prob just live in a safe zone... nope

my afk train route is mostly outside a safe zone  only the beg and end are in safe zone  at least 95% of it is in unsafe zones and ive been killed a few times  during it

think in past year of training where i do   4 deaths total   most recent one couple weeks ago by someone on a doom who whispered me after apologizing cuz they was red player riding by and didnt realize their doom would nuke my wagon with the third IA so easily

:D  heck my solo horse training spot is even less in a safe zone than my wagon route due to it being curtailed specificly for auto sprint

so yeah  just afk in safe zone and problem solved  if u refuse to use that  thats on u for accepting the risks

I think PvE servers are the only solution that would be easy to implent. They already have them and it's not a problem. Someone once said they don't have the technology a few weeks ago but I didn't bother to argue because they clearly haven't heard of Season+, Olvia and New_Olvia servers. Those are all PvE.

We need perma-PvE servers. It's not only good for lifeskillers but everyone who just wants to chill and take in the scenery. You can't just ride on a donkey, you'll get PK'd the moment you step out of town, or not -- depends on the day and server.

It would also make the game attractive to people who are repulsed by the idea that other players can kill you in the open field which is maybe 90% of the MMORPG community. There's very few people who do find this idea attractive and that's why WoW became as big as it did, seemingly overnight. They made it casual-friendly in a harsh world. Believe me, I played open world PvP and was repulsed by how "childish" WoW was at the time. But I have a job now, I have obligations and other things to deal with and I just want to enjoy my time stress-free in a game. It doesn't matter if I'm playing Skyrim, Witcher 3, FF or BDO. I just want to play something that I can find relaxing. If a game won't be relaxing, I'll play something else. Sure, I love challenge, but there's nothing challening about being slaughtered because I main Shai.

"Go play another class!" And yes, I do. One of each actually for every season. But I don't like them as much as I enjoy playing shai.

"Make a level 49 character!" I do have alts that are 49 for lifeskill reasons. But again, why is this a necessity? Why can't we just have a main character? Why do I have to have two shai, one that's high level and another capped at 49? Why do i have to make all my lifeskillers 49 because people don't play nice?

If you're life skilling, you shouldn't be one-shotted at the very least. But there's no way to determine if you're lifeskilling or not unless you check the gear that is being equipped or something. Unfortunately such systems are easily exploitable in PvP.

I remember how people would camp outside of heidel with their desert camo outfit and PK people and horse trainers the moment they went out of town.  They're normally not part of a guild or if they are, they are part of the griefer guilds. The fact that griefing guilds exist is ridiculous considering griefing is agains the ToS.

I'm fine with open world PvP as an element, but PvP is broken, and you have lifeskillers a part of this whole thing that can get killed by campers. Usually lifeskillers are a part of lifeskilling guilds and that does nothing to protect against griefers since usually the rule is, don't kill since they're afraid of being dec'd.

Returning back to my original point, permanent (but optional) PvE servers is the easiest solution to implement. You don't have to fix PvP, you can just join a PvE server and enjoy your time there. The creavat would be contested zones would be contested and there's nothing you can do about it, but that is life. Maybe XP gained there would be significantly lower than normal servers to avoid so much conjestion.

Thankfully, there's very few people playing BDO now and there isn't much PKing happening for lifeskillers on certain channels but I know for a fact that certain channels are cancer and you should avoid them. I personally think they would make a ton of money if they added PvE only servers for anyone to join but it's none of my business. Anyone who does try to PK me while I'm AFK will be annoyed when I come back with my endgame gear though. Usually PKers are horrible at PvP and are poorly geared and tend to pick people off at low level spots since they know they won't survive a real fight in end-game.

lol love how i get downvoted for stating facts  :D

dont get me wrong  i wouldnt mind if they added pve servers  could care less either way  ill still always play on my guilds home server as i have for the past 5 years  wont ever change  i hope they do add pve servers for yalls  honestly do

but the issue is PA has said many times they wont change the main servers to pve as the risk of opvp (or PKing in this case) is part of the game and risks

ill keep my fingers crossed for yalls that they do  honestly <3  but chances arent exactly high since the amount of PKs on afk fishers and afk trainers arent that high compared to the amount of people afk fishing/training

from my guild alone  over the past year  as a lifeskilling guild   maby 10 total  half of those are me due to i train in nonsafe area :D (again risk i take and accept willingly)  rest are usualy guildies pathing from 1 area to the next afk and gets yeeted by someone on guild dec    im sure some people get it worse in higher traffic areas  less in others  but i dont think its as high as the posts would indicate since the vast majority of players arent on the forums

tldr: i hope they add em for yalls but chances arent good after 6 years of it being a thing since i doubt the amount of PKs to afk fishers/trainers isnt that high i would guess

dont change he is right we should have a server pve where we can afk lifeskill or erping or just being afk without someone coming to be annoying

i dont have problem if this server doesnt have monster, fish, gathering material, quest, etc, i just ask a place where i can be afk in peace

This would do nothing.  Mr Zerker that grabs you bringing you and carrying you to mobs doesn't care about death, his entire goal is to move you to a new location.

Now that Elvia Zones will be integrated into normal servers, it could free up a channel or two to make PvE. I think it would be worth doing for PA, even as a trial initially for a month or so. I feel it could give them some very valuable information. I know personally - try as I might - I can't convince some friends to play Black Desert, simply because of the open world griefing opportunities available (as rightly pointed out in an above post, attacking afkers is not PvP). A PvE server I may convince them to try the game again more thoroughly, and I feel others would be more likely to do so too.
