So I decided to leave the music on in the Valencia... bad idea. As you cross the desert so many portions of various tracks play, bits and pieces not more than a min each leaving me less imersed in the game. Then finally, at one point, the pre-April 2022 desert crossing theme played and things were epic for nearly 6 min! Why was that theme 6 min long and the others were less? Because that theme was made with the intention to play in the desert! Will not leave in-game music on for Valencia again.

Now what of poor Brellin Farm? It is a common place to go for questing to level 61. Up to six different tracks play in this area and to my horor I even heard Port Epheria's theme play! Suddenly I remembered carying boxes down to the docks to obtain ship blueprints before remembering that this was Brellin Farm, not Port Epheria. That's how you know the music is good, when it makes such an impression. What is the identity of this farm now? You have six options, none of them play very long.

Please perform emergency surgery on Black Desert Online's vocal cords!

Well, many others have given good suggestions already. I would support a toggle to return to the previous music set-up, a toggle to shuffle or not shuffle tracks, or a music player. This would give everyone more choice to play as they wish. Here's what I feel could be done to improve the current music:

1) Add more ambient sounds! When there is silence... there is silence except for in cities, in Kamasylvia (so many birds!), and the stomp of your horse, grunt of a monster, or strike of your weapon.

2) Shuffling tracks might be best in grinding zones and not when travelling, questing, in cities, or gathering. In these situations every sound becomes more noticeable.

3) In cities especially, I think the identity of the city through its music is most important. Maybe only lightly remixing the previous tracks so it sounds different but not out of theme would work.

4) Like PA did a year ago... add new distinctive, unique, and culturally/identity appropriate music. Listening to Sand Grain's music everywhere is disappointing.

Really solid suggestions, thank you for the list! In the interest of being concise I'd like to add a few of my own at the bottom here:

5) Vastly increase the size of the 'trigger zones' for switching tracks. The biggest breaker of immersion here is just the music phasing in/out way too often.

6) Travel is the biggest offender for the above issue. They mentioned adding a new set of riding tracks that play while on horseback, which would likely help a lot with this issue. I just want to warn *against* having one big pool of tracks to shuffle through while riding, regardless of which region a player is in. I think each region should have its own selection of a couple riding tracks that will *only* start playing after leaving the vicinity of cities and other nodes with unique tracks.

7) Similar to the above suggestion, add most of the fast-paced action tracks to a pool of combat music and let grind zones shuffle through them. I think one big pool of combat tracks fitting to each region is fine for most grind zones, but again - this should be regional.

What really made me addicted to this game right away was the music.  Well-written tracks that matched each place and situtation perfectly.  Battle music faded in and out perfectly when you began and finished combat.  Everywhere had night versions of the daytime tracks play.  You knew exactly where you were, when riding, based on what music was playing.....  It was a musical paradise.

Now it's gone.

The desert theme fit the desert SO well....

Now we're lucky to hear it.

Never thought I'd say this: I miss 2020.

Pain can really stimulate one into action, but so can relief.

So, I have a series of gardens along the Balenos River, and whenever I switch to the chracter I have tending to them, I normally have to endure the pain of listening to an old theme from the game, that I should recall with fond memories.  But instead, due to the fact that it is so out of place, it drives me nuts.  Sometimes, I have to turn down the volume entirely.  This morning, I got to hear the original song that played here: the one with the softly playing trumpet, playing the Balenos theme and waves of relief flooded over me.  The other one, which a lot of us might recall fondly, is the one with the lady's voice sweetly singing the tune.  THESE songs fit the area and vibe of Balenos.  A relatively peaceful, coastal land, brimming with grapes and olives, and people go about their business sailing and fishing.  The BDO themesongs?  They're epic calls to battle, glory and adventure.  They just don't fit.  Sorry.  Please remove.  This "ear candy" is an ear poison that hurts every time I play.

EDIT: You also know what doesn't fit?  Gluttoni Cave (yes, it was written for the cave and it fits it perfectly, and it's not just random song you guys decided to put there.  That's like believing that mindless monkeys can write an Encyclopedia entry) playing on Karanda Ridge, or just outside of Calpheon.  To say that all of Calpehon region music fits anywhere in Calpehon, which is wondrously diverse.... Nope.  Kills immersion.

EDIT 2:  I've said this before, but Al Rhundi's and Muskan's themes playing in Kzarka's Shrine in Serendia is lame.  I can deal with a rock'n roll song for early game zones.  I sued to love to run the gauntlet of Cron Castle, but it's now gauntlet now.  Just a couple of mobs.  LAME.

Anyway, the God of Corruption is insidious and evil.  And dangerous to newer players looking for their first Kzarka weapon.  Nothing says that better than the theme for his shrine, that only plays outside the shrine.  For what reason?  Maybe to remind us of the good old days.  Why is it that the years behind us are always better than the time we're in?  Is it because why try too hard to progress, that we forget (or have no clue) where  we're going and mess things up?  And then fail to repair things becuse it's just too hard?  Oh well.

This game has awesome music!!! The stuff added to Kamasylvia is a homerun!!!!  The soundtrack as it is implemented now?  1 star out of 10.

Please fix.

I agree that the overtures don't really fit anywhere other than the monster zones. It pains me every time I'm riding peacefully along listening to a slow toon and then all of a sudden the full orchestra comes in with a "Bwum Bwum Bwum BWAAAAAA!"

Bree Tree Ruins used to have a very unique music track, I'd look forward to it every time I passed through the area on the main quest or for the dark rift boss.  I hardly ever hear it now.

Yeah, it randomly plays everywhere else, instead.  To me, it's highly disappointing, especially if it's something you'd look forward to hearing, and there's no guarantee that you'd hear it.

I mentioned before that relief can inspire to write.  So can frustration.

I was making the rounds defeating Rift Bosses today, and I was going through Mediah.  The music was so painful, I had to shut the music off entirely.  This was fine, because I'm sick of the meaningless repreating tracks of Valencia anyway.  The music stayed off until I got back to Velia to fight Red Nose.   I later discovered a farm southeast of Keplan, Gianin Farm, which was pretty cool!  Even after years of playing, one can stumble upon hidden away areas.  The experience was dumbed down by the fact that Port Epheria's theme was playing.  That song fits a seaport pretty well, but not a forest farm. Then,  I was going for the Saunil Seige Captian, which at this time was in the Saunil base.  As I was going through the base, the Forced PvP theme (which used to seamlessly fade in if you clicked the Forced PvP icon, or were attacked) was playing there.  Apparently it's a Calpheon tune.  I guess it works, but when you're used to it fitting Forced PvP so well, it assaults your mind and your ears.

And then I found myself in Drieghan, fighting in the Tshira Ruins.  Haven't been there for a while, and the last time I was there must have been when I had the music off for a few months in protest to the travesty doen to this game.  Man, some of the Drieghan tracks do NOT fit a mysterious, foggy, swampy vibe.  I almost wanted to shut the music off, but then it started playing the track that used to play there, you know, the one that fits a mysterious, foggy swamp?  Fortunately, I finished the quests I had selected for these and was on my way to the Blood Wolves, where the music is not so offensive.

Ugh.  When will this nightmare end?......

I hope so. I think this is a pretty big thread, not the largest but not small either yet PA has never said hello in the thread or placed this in the Adventurer Feedback board. That certainly leaves the impression that a concern for many players here is a non issue for PA and thus may turn away players. I myself have skipped seasons and cut back my engagement with BDO because of the music rework.

And there are plenty other concerns in this Forum that I would hope PA would address.
