i am trying to finish off the adventure journal for the herald/ruben guy in calpheon. so that i can then further get to other journals that reward around 600? hit points account-wide.

i am returning after a while and back in the day the ranger had the fastest natural move speed on foot. is this still true? if not what class is the fastest on foot?

my plan is next season to make whatever class is fastest on foot and level it up with the idea of using it to make finishing the herald quests easier. 

another oddball question - does on foot speed determine swimming speed? in other words would a character class that naturally runs faster be able to dive faster? i using potions etc to help but i do find some of the swimming/diving to find stuff quests a bit frustrating at times.

All of these quests can be completed with any character that has move speed +5 and / or various tricks eg. traveler map, Hashashin on desert (because has an infinite sprint there), escape function (for fast free teleportation eg. in Hystria).

No it doesnt they are seperate stats, fastest afaik for swimming is corsair.

Rangers and DKs are the fastest as they have stork legs.

Every class can complete herald's quest with a plenty of time to spare, you just need to get better. I completed it with my shai without any move speed (before i even started using crystals) and this was way before the boomerang skateboard. Now, shai are the fastest so if you really are adament about it, pick shai. I strongly suggest a phisolophy borrowed from Dark souls called the get gud method. Except the RNG fishing that comes later, can't get gud on RNG, nobody is good at that.

DK is slowest moving class in the game, there is  multiple video from Korean  youtuber about that. Ranger have passive + moving speed that make her fast.

Also archer has 10% movement speed pasive.

Believe it or not Shai is the fasted. With Sun, Moon, Stars with a Pen Sol it gives her +25% run speed for 60 secs. Then with the Hop skill, It gives her an additional +10% run speed. No other class can compete with that. 

Witch is close with Speed Spell (20%) + Blue orb (10%), but non-100% uptime on speed spell is a shame. That being said she has an easier time buffing quickly, compared to shai's moderately slower animations.
