So we will have this pot quest which I think it's a common assumption that it will require a lot of kills each week. (5k?, 10k?).
Just wanted to point out that this is going to create an extremely hostile environment at potion piece grind spots.
There are tons of very geared players out there who never did the pot grind and guess what they will be out to finish it now.
Don't be surprised if a 301k++ AP player one shots you over and over.
The alternative is to grind on top of each other in seasons, but that is going to cause frustrated players to pop up all over the place as well.
People are going to be calling for PvE only servers again.
I think making it easier to get the potion is a great move, however I sorta predict the end result will be more frustrated players than now due to open world pvp / grind spot contention.
Gonna fire up some popcorn and watch the impending drama
It's a weekly quest, you won't see them every day there
Don't worry about 30x AP, grinding in potion spots it's a wast of time, just platoon and let him leech 3/4k mobs.
No one care about these quests. "Only" 120 weeks (over 2 years) to collect all parts.
Och sorry, not even all because we still can't obtain map and compass (some players even after 4-5 years in game).
So don't cry because as the last psuedo calpheon ball showed, over 90% players do not have these potions and they do not care about them.
Usually people get the "real" pot piece before amassing the 100 pity fragments. I think it was somewhere between 50 and 70 pity pieces on average IIRC, that was my case for the HP pot but maybe I was very lucky.
And yes, as Warriors said infinite potions spots are quite shit money spots (you can even lose money on some of them if you are using a tent buff) and these are weekly quests, so I don't think you will see much more very high geraed players there than there were before these quests implementation.
High-end players who wanted to grind for the potion pieces could already do so. All these quests do is allow you to get some extra potion fragments in addition to what you get for grinding, so you'll get to 100 fragments that much faster. Sure, maybe there will be some players who decide that the quests make it just enough easier now to be worth their time when they didn't before, but I'd be surprised if it made the difference for very many players. For the most part, anyone who wants the infinite potions would have already been grinding for them, and for the most part, anyone who didn't think that they were worth their time is not going to be all that interested in spending the time on them now either.
If there was a big change, it was introducing the potion fragments so that you had to rely on RNG less to get the infinite potions. Guaranteeing a few more per week with a quest will help anyone grinding for them, but it's a far smaller change than introducing them in the first place. And if anything, it will get any players grinding for potion pieces out of those zones faster, which will reduce the congestion in those zones in the long run, not increase it.
Temporarily? Maybe. But long term this should improve things.
People who couldn't be bothered with RNG and now will do the weeklies will show up now to bloat the spots. Eventually, they get their pieces through a combo of drops and quest completes and leave never to return.
People who were intermittently grinding may clump their grind into one longer session to do their weekly and a bit more since they're there. There is no increase to the number of people there: some may stay slightly longer, or leave earlier, or go once a week instead of 2-3 times for the same time value, but on average no real difference. Eventually, they too get their pieces and leave, most likely sooner than if they had just been grinding as before. Only likely change is an increased volume right before and after weekly reset and a decreased volume at other times.
On the whole, you'll find more 'dead' times mid-week, so someone who couldn't face off against the current grinders can find a peaceful time, and eventually there will be less people looking for pieces so newer players or those who didn't feel they could compete currently have a chance to start.
The only way this will cause problems is if you want to do your grind right after reset when most others will be, too, and none of you are willing to choose a mid-week time, and even that has a natural end point when everyone who has gotten a spot gets all their pieces which will have a guaranteed max point now (if you get zero drops ever, mad bad luck, you still get what you need from a single spot in 20 weeks, rather than still going back three years later).
I collect 89 fragments on RU server.
I drop server.
And coolect 15 fragments in Euro.
Quest is easy fragments
Nah it's fine, I'll just take my Pot piece grinding to the Seasonal PvP channel.
