To think about it, those said instanced grind spots for one hour might actually bring more harm than good.

The positives:

You can grind for one hour unoposed by anybody, because you're all alone with the mobs for company.

The buffs(loot, Cxp, Sxp, food, e.t.c) won't go to waste, because there is nobody else to contest your place.

Potential to learn a player how to grind for XP.

The downsides:

Limited to a single rotation(at least, it's what I believe).

Ruins the multiplayer experience.

Several players complaind BDO to be "single player". Instanced grind zones will contribute to this claim and it might actually become a reality.

By making instanced grind zones, this also ruins the open world aspect in BDO.

Conclusion: To me it seems like an alternative to your so wanted PvE servers, in which devs show no interest of adding. It's a move in trying to satisfy the more casual playerbase.

In my opinion: Those instanced grind zones would actually contribute to BDO in a negative way in the future. It will feel dead, even if it had more player numbers playing the game.

honestly - this is really kind of baffling . . .

as far as i know the devs don't want to have PVE servers but

- they have the Olivia starting servers that are PVE

- they have the seasonal servers that are PVE

- and now they are going to let us play for '1 hour only a day' PVE

just make the PVE servers already. and of course keep normal PVP servers for those who like it so they can enjoy the game too. adjust numbers of servers to match populations.

All these pure pve settings come with restrictions, that's precisely the idea.

If you want to play unrestricted, play pvpve.

This was hidden by admin due to the reports it has received.

Like others have said before, it should be longer or just make a PvE server. PvPers can just slay each other all day in a PvP server and it's all good. More options the better.

Why in the heavens PA always arm string themselves with this game is beyond me.

BDO can have one of the best PvE solo/coop experiences on the market, they can have people buying outfits and show them off in a PvE group content where people are actually engaged in and want to participate (given proper rewards, that is the REAL incentive and also quality content to play that people actually would grind since it would be fun to play) and they keep pushing this shitfest of PvP that has no value whatsoever.

The update is absolutely welcome by me, by 1 hour a day is dumb. They always do that, "you can do this but 1 time, we don't want you to have too much fun (or ruin the market economy, because THIS is the real reason).

The day they'll put the market AFTER the fun in their priorities list and PvP with Its progress and dedicated gear that doesn't take years to make (and finally balance it and FIX it because it's an uncomprehensible shitshow), it will be the day BDO will really shine, untill then it will be still stagnant.

I want to have fun with the game and I do, but it's limited fun, by them, and it's idiotic.

I got my wife back recently in the game, she got ganked at a spot because a guy was doing a guild quest in a low level zone while she was questing with her old character, she promptly quit and I doubt she will then buy outfits or play the game more.

She went back to play WoW paying a monthly sub, and having fun.

I'm not saying BDO has to be for everyone, every game has its target audience of course, but wtf, at least the FUN should be in a fucking videogame. We have lives and we work, in most cases, and we would even spend cash on a game that is entertaining, but if it's not well...

They should promote cooperation, not aggression towards other users like they do now.

Can it?

The mobs have shit ai, the classes are inbalanced af, the game offers shallow, broken mechanisms, and the game desync heavily even in PvE.

So far they don't have the core working for PvE even if they wish to actually make noteworthy PvE content, it would probably took them years to fix their shit first. Can they do it?

The answer is that they not even trying.

True but they COULD. BDo has the same Ai that other MMO have, the only difference is that in BDO mobs always go to the last player location with a refresh timing of around 5 seconds because "reasons", so you can basically kite them around and take no damage.

There's no mechanic because they wanted everyone to be a dps, that was ok in the past for the absolute 0 content they had. Making content work in an MMO is much easier that it sounds, they just need to actually make said content work.

Atoraxxion was an attempt, I still have to try it because no fucking one ever plays it because everybody is concerned about the Cash per Second AP/DP telemetry and it's pointless to play Atoraxxion. But I will eventually if I can manage to get my friends in the game. The thing is, every time I get people in the game, they leave because there's no real group coop direction in the game. So they go back playing other SP games, or proper MMOs.

I have seen people in this thread complain about how this breaks immersion, but really it doesn't. You're not forced to play instanced and it's entirely up to you whether you want to do it or not. It can take 20mins to get to your grind spot, maybe more depending on your horse and you need to prepare before hand as well. Once you have everything you need, all the buffs etc... It could easily be about 40 minutes before you even start grinding. This is chaos for people who work, have a family etc... Most people can't spend more than an hour playing a game per day if they're fortunate enough.

If you want immresion, BDO isn't the game for you. You need to play a single player game for that level of immersion like modded Skyrim for instance. BDO is far too fast in combat, you cant fight in first person, and everyone and everything is glitching in and out. There is significant desync and there's no breathing world in BDO. BDO is not meant for immersion, it never was and never will be. I would be all for fast travel if we have permanent instanced PvE because at that point, it would make no difference and there wouldn't be PvP worries / griefing etc... At least for the majority and it would benefit those who have a very limited amount of time to play. That's why other games copied WoW, it's becasue WoW was designed for convenience since all other MMOs were designed around the hardcore mentality.

I strongly believe that BDO will ultimately end up this way as well. It will not break your immersion because ultimately it will be up to you whether you want to do instanced PvE and use fast travel. The same holds true in skyrim, you can choose to fast travel or you can go there the old fashion way.

They are running out of players to milk since people tend to leave after a few weeks or months. Their casino concept and PvP isn't very appealing and what limited stock of customers exist for this genre is getting dry. I think they will turn this game more like WoW before long so that they can appeal to the 90%+ of the audience who were repulsed by the PvP concept and lack of fast travel.  Sure, it might make a few (very few) people leave the game but that's what PA does, they don't care and will do what is necessary to appeal to more people. That's why new players tend to get more benefits than vets. If they don't adapt, they will go under because it's not about what they want, it's what their customers want.

I like the way they implemented the private zone. it seamlessly lets you go into the private zone. Great for when you are buffed or grinding in regular and somebody else comes. Instead of switching channels, you can go into your private instance. At least that is the only way I am going to use it. I have been pushed out of a grind zone only once in the last two years so I don't know others' pain.

Instances are fun when properly implemented. The bugs are instanced, they don't break immersion. If they gave good silver, I would live in that cave. I always thought aakman had a great potential to become a great solo/duo dungeon.

My only ask from this private zone will be to let me stack up unused hour credits like a loot scroll.
