Hi,

I started to play this game recently, graphics is very nice. I have 48" LG OLED TV and I play with 4K resolution, remastered details, full screen. Everything is sharp, but some fonts are ultra small, hard to read. I tried to increase UI scale in settings. It helped, but it made all fonts also very blurry, especialy small ones - like item description. Is there any alternative solution to this issue? I found some old topic with guide how to replace fonts, but it seems it doesn't work anymore. I tried to disable antialising, also no go. Any ideas?

If its not enough. you can change for your own Font with

Create a Prestringtable Folder in your Black Desert Folder.
ex: This PC/ My Drive (C:)/Pearls Abyss/BlackDesert

In this folder, Create a Font folder.
Then you can put any TFF Font. You have to rename it Pearl.tff

And put in it any of your likely Font
I personnaly use Black 900 Roboto.

if its not enough. you can also increase de sharpening. Both Nvidia and Radeon have some option on that.  Even your own TV may have a setting about that.

Yeah nothing can be done for this UI. Its not a usefull one anyway you can live without ^^.
Roboto Black may help a bit since the font is fat. but its will remain blurry a bit.

Not just this part of UI, but all small fonts are blurried - items description, chat window, old menu text, text bubles (NPCs), etc. This game was rated by several webs like one of the best loking MMORPG, but this blurrynes ruins my game experience a lot. I think that the problem is that UI is rendered with one size (fixed resolution) and depending on UI scale it is simply upscaled by some interpolation algorithm like bilinear interpolation, which destroys original text rendering and text clarity by mixing font pixels with background colors. It is similar like emulated upscaled DOS games making it similar experience. The game needs to render UI with higher resolution or at least render it with bigger fonts to make text sharp. It is my first game which suffers with this issue, clearly UI is not designed for 4k resolution. Even much older games like World of Warcraft, Guild Wars 2 are perfectly sharp with 4k resolution. Hopefully some day developers fix that :-(

Agreed, it would be nice if they could use a non-rasterized font. I was looking up DejaVu font and it seems to be available for public domain. I can't really tell from their messy website what kind of font it is though. I can't remember the difference between true type and vector format, I feel like they are similar but it's been a while since I had to deal with them but DejaVu does seem to be rasterized meaning they are bitmaps and scale horibly on-screen. That's fine in 1080p and in 2009 but we're in 2022 with 2k, 4k, 5k, and 8k monitors (BDO on 8K is surely the best way to heat your house during winter though).

Since it's probably possible (as posted before) to change the font, I might do that. Calibri seems like a better font to use IMO. Going to play with this later. Try windings LOL jk
