You should go and clean your nose, there's a lot of brown stuff on there. You want proof and people have been saying it for years and years across so many communities. BDO has been memed as the single worst MMORPG community and hosts #1 spot as the worst loss in potential. There's very few communites more toxic than this one and you can argue that it has gotten better, but that's only because few people play compared to before. They are just marketing NEW players over the years and hardly retain old players.

Face it. BDO is stretching itself very thinly and there's no promise for its future. Any promise that PA makes for the game is short lived because they never meet deadlines, they cancel a lot of nice features that we want, they refuse to fix bugs that have been a problem since day 1 and when they do release new content, they find the most complicated, horrible way to make it "fun" and somehow it becomes dead content almost immediately.

Very few people takes this game seriously as a real MMORPG experience because it isn't. RNG is also never a quality game mechanic and the lackluster content further illustrates how bad of a state this game is in. The only reason why it takes a while to do anything is because of the energy system which is smells like an atrocious mobile gameplay and the ludicrous amount of low RNG for everything. You want to brown nose, fine... Do it. But it won't make this game any better. Want more copium or hopium or are you still full on that too?

I saw these guys, read their "arguments" and "proofs". So tell me, what credibility do they have when they keep memeing a game that has been around for 6 years? Why should we pay a particular attention to a bunch of toxic doomcallers who keep being wrong?

I probably blamed BDO more than you, above all when it comes to RNG mixed with cash shop. I'm currently blaming it for making the pet of the main pet class nearly useless. There are plenty of flaws we could both be discussing

BUT...

At least, I AM having fun with it because it also has many important qualities. One of the most important for me is that it avoided most of the things we keep getting in other games, above all the "spoon-fed time-gated so-called fun content " I despise.

BDO also became much more accessible, you can reach a very high GS without any RNG, but it won't happen in a day, a week, or even a month.

That's the main problem for players who are used to binge-play, there's no schedule, no guide, no expendable gear they keep replacing, nearly no dailies/weeklies to take them by the hand, and oh God, other players can disrupt their precious time.

Many moves have been made to allow players to gear up quickly, and other changes are planned, and I'm happy about it.

But despite that, doomcallers keep complaining and blaming the game because BDO is not like their usual game. Meanwhile, 10k to 15k players are regularly playing it, I don't see why these players should be sacrificed because some others can't bear to see a niche game.

Perhaps in your bubble or guild it seems active but generally yea the OPs observation aligns pretty good with what I been seeing.

Alot of people finish season get the pen tuvala maybe start the boss gear quest line then quit - too time consuming and too expensive.

And this is a trend the past year or so for new players. The retention rate is pretty low.

(Yes I help alot of new players and most don't even want to buy a tent or value pack)

It's easy to say "well if you don't wanna spend 1000s of hours on a game to collect digital items, then go find something else to play"

And this is the reason the game is declining people are doing just that.

Alot of people who stuck around mostly do it for friends they hang with in discord and also if they have invested alot of real money into their account..

nope, nice try

I know quite a few people who take this game seriously as a "real" MMORPG experience.  BDO, to me, is the best MMO right now.  Let's me do my thing, on my terms, at my own pace.  The combat is amazing, PvE and PvP.  The world is beatifully crafted and new regions / content is released with no additional cost.  I could go on.

You can bypass RNG nowadays.  So many of the 710+ GS players I know have purchased most of the items with silver.  Backwards progression is only done when players choose to enhance, and to me, that's a self-inflicted injury.  Risk / reward.  Do you go into a casino and expect to win a jackpot?  Do you buy a lottery ticket and expect to win a million dollars?  Think about it.  Don't want RNG, then just buy everything, like most of the geared players I know have.

I think the biggest thing that BDO has against it is the culture of instant gratification in video gamers nowadays.  I'm a bit old school.  I don't mind, and I like, having to work hard for something I want, if it's that important to me.  So it's a tough thing to manage, I'd think.  To want to create a long-term-styled grinder game, centered on continuous self-motivation and self-goal setting, in a video gaming culture who wants everything handed to them on a silver platter (or so it seems that way to me with some repsonses I read).

How can BDO appeal to this audience of instant gratification and the audience of the opposite?  My suggestion:  Expanding on Seasonal Servers.  Maybe, instead of 100 FS as the end of Season reward, offer a boat load of Jetina materials at the end of Season.  So that Seasonal players can make their guaranteed PENs faster.  This will keep BDO's long-term-style in tact while offering more casual players more ways to progress in a way that's reasonable for them.  Just trying to see both sides here.

I planned to play BDO for a long time, perhaps til the servers shut down, but lately there has been doubt of this plan. IT has been difficult to play BDO even afk due to easy anti cheat conflicting wihen I am playing other games which use this. The monetization is bad.. basically subscription x3 which are not being utilized for a long time. This is my fault but will probably not spend on these again. Slow development. They are doing stuff now but for a long time life skills suffered. Where is the ocean content and other new areas? Enhancment.. fails are severe, attempts cost much. Grind spots always contested, find an empty spot then have to fight for it every 5 minutes with these shit rules. If someone challenges you you should be able to fight them indefinatley without being penalized for winning. Arsha would be great but always much stronger people with more effective classes. There should be 10+ arsha channels and options if you just want to grind for 18 hours without having to deal with other people. Then there is the numerous other gaming options out there which have greater value and are overall much less annoying. Lost ark is great, no regrets spending on that game so far and based on what I know will have exciting things for years to come. I get a sense that this game is no longer a development priority for PA. I think they are simply losing to the competition and suffering from a pretty bad reputation due to how they have monetized the game. If they lose dedicated players it is a bad sign. They have not lost me yet but a year ago I was not even considering leaving and now I am asking if it is worth the time and money in the future.

As long as there are constant DFS in the chat, I know that the game has a healthy population... unfortunately...

Honestly, I don´t get it - ppl cry about "dfs". DFS is actually really mannered. It´s not like anyone has booked a spot per birthright just by blocking it for hours or being there first. "First come first serve" is anyways a pretty random rule and as good or bad as anything else you make up. It ain´t some universal constraint or whatnot.

Back in the 2000s one would have just PK´ed you. That could be a reason to cry.

Also might as well write it here cause that BS is all around on this board: PK is not "griefing". Griefing is if someone constantly follows you or ganks up on you wherever they see you, to kill you over and over again - if they PK you solely with the goal of making you unable to play the game.

DFS isn't well mannered, it's the very opposite.

"Hey guy, duel me. If you refuse, I'll tell my guild to declare war on your guild because I'm too much of a wimp to go red and challenge you like a real man"

- No, I'm not DFS, I won't gain anything if I win and I'll only lose my spot if I lose.

"REEEEEE--- Time to declare war!"

Why should I DFS when I am the one who spent the time to find an empty rotation.  Go find your own empty rotation and keep your silly DFS to yourself.  Or....PK me, and waste all your time dealing with me.  I care not.
