This topic has already been discussed hundreds of times, but despite all the complaints, nothing has been done yet.

1º Autoroute by sea is not working as intended and need to be checked:

Facts:
- If you press any direction key to move your boat manually, the autoroute line gets stuck at the point where you pressed the keys and if you resume the autoroute your ship will make a 180 degree turn to return to that point and continue from there. (Happens almost the 90% of the time).
- It should update every so often, even when you take over the helm of the ship.
- Designated lines on autoroute often end up with the boat stalled.

2º Winds and Currents inconsistencies:
Facts:

- The calculation of the speed in terms of wind and ocean currents is ridiculous The wind is insignificant compared to the currents so it is almost useless and almost all boats tend to take up their sail.

- When going from automatic to manual mode, even in a straight line and without changing currents or wind, the speed is reduced by almost half. In many cases the ship even stops.

- You cannot use BreezySail if a certain speed is not reached, it should be usable only if you have the wind at your back (regardless of speed).

Winds / currents: I just assumed those were arranged in an attempt to force certain navigation paths, sort of like how most roads and rivers are in trenches.  Problems with that: the auto-nav doesn't use it, and there are "corners" to get stuck in.

I never auto-nav at sea.  Does that really have increased speed in some circumstances?

The auto-nav lines do similar things on land as well when manually moving.  Which is funny, because when on automatic, you don't need lines, they are only helpful when in manual.  If they worked, that is.

I've noticed that different graphics settings affect how well those the auto-nav lines are handled.  Resetting the destination will work, but only temporarily.  Sometimes just going in and out of the map will reset the path.

For better or worse, because of this I have been slowly learning to navigate the world without the assistance.  Slowly

Autopathing is entirely broken at sea, however it gets far worse when you use the auto-sprint feature of the boat (forgot what it's called). This makes bartering an unreliable mess. There is no setting to make it right, you can set "accurate" rather than "smooth" which isn't going to do much unfortunately.

Desync with boats is too great, making it very difficult to play with others on the same boat or against / with other boat players.

Wind / current calculations can be completely remedied by allowing a reasonable base speed while adding a slight boost with wind/current. Currently you are penalized heavily while going against the wind / current. Wind and current should only act as a small bonus, not make it where you physically cannot move forward.

Idea Scenario:

Let's say your base speed is 10,000

Let's say that good Wind direction (100% the correct direction) can give 15% in speed boost

Let's say that good Current direction (100% the correct direction) can also give 15% in speed boost.

* 100% correct direction is based on the angle of which the wind blows vs where your boat is aiming. The 15% boost can be 7.5% if it's 50% correct. If both are in your favor that's 30% speed improvement.

So in total, your speed with wind/current boost would be 13,000. If the wind/current is against you 100%, then you would be stuck at your max speed which is 10,000. Wind wouldn't negatively affect you, it would only help you move forward if the conditions are right.

Both Wind and Current should be capped equally on ocean and non-ocean waters and minimum boat speed would be adjusted according to the changes. The player should NEVER move slower than their minimum max speed.

I don't know how that would play out in reality, but it's a SUGGESTION and there are many, many different ways you can calculate it without penalizing the player for playing ocean content. The problem right now is that you're penalized for trying but if you're playing at the right time, you get a bonus which let's face it, the wind/current is generally against you BOTH WAYS. =/
