Event fish doesn't seem to give any XP which is rather disapointing, but overall the event is pretty good: it rewards active playing and does it rather decently.
Seeing as this is a super rare drop (on Kr noone even completed the quest) and you already have 1 out of 10 in the first 24h (event runs for 14 days) id say ur doing pretty good.
The screen I showed you is for 15 hours of non-stop fishing, so you don't have the right to make a mistake. You need 10, the event lasts 14 days...
You have to do only that, not sleep and especially have RNG. In short, I continue until Sunday like that, we will do only fishing event and we will see how many I have and if it's worth to try the 10 eggs.
Did you get the red egg from normal spot?
Or rather is there only 1 type of spot... It makes it sounds like theres a moving seagull/fish spawn compared to stationary?
I only fish in the event hotspots.
How do you tell the diffrence between normal and Event hotspot?? I can't tell the bloody diffrence and seem to only get normal fish lol? Any help

Look at the fishes in the water. They have to be reddish-looking, exactly like the ones in the event page image.

If the fish are any other color, the spot is guaranteed not to be the right one. Although sometimes a spot with fish that look right isn't an event hotspot either. Usually you can tell after catching a fish. The event hotspots, you only catch Puffers. If you catch anything else, move on.
Are there any hotspots on the coasts or do you have to be on a ship? From the area shown in the patch notes it looks like coasts are possible too, but I haven't spot any seagulls yet anywhere. Tried in the area where the Terminal Festival usually takes place.
I looked along the coasts at first, a party member also did, but neither of us ever found any hotspots along the coast.
The hotspots are also temporary and short-lived, lasting what I'd guess 10-15 minutes, so you won't be able to park there and get very many AFK. I left my character AFK at a hotspot overnight and she only caught 4 more, so if they come back to the exact same spot, it was so far between that my 106 inventory slots all filled up before it happened. This is definitely an active fishing event.
Anyone have a go at this yet know whether you actually get fishing exp from these hotspots? One of the strangest quirks of other events like koi in the past was that ... they weren't worth any exp. Fishing event that doesn't at all progress your fishing level is just odd.
As per my experience I received life exp from event fishes. Actually this is where I advanced fishing level. Guru 20 now. It was roughly 0.01-0.02%.
My critisism with this event is that those hotspots can't be distinguished from normal hotspots. As mentioned the fish need to be a red color but you might end up with Porgy, Black Porgy or Grunt instead, which is pretty annoying. I'd have appreciated a different color on those fish, yellow or pink or whatever suitable for colorblind people as well.
Quick PSA: Some people take off as soon as the hotspot goes away, but I've typically been able to get up to 5-7 puffers after it goes away.
I've been trying for over an hour to find these hotspots. Every attempt has been normal fish. Maybe they didn't put these on Olvia channels? And after reading that you have to activly fish at hotspots (above) I think I'm done with this event. No longer interested. I work a lot and one of the appealing things about this game is to AFK. If they remove the value of AFK functionality then I am no longer interested in the game. This event sucks. Good luck for those of you that are actually going to do it.
