The last time they tried to lock FPS, the game just didn't work and they had to do a hotfix really quick. Though, that was a cap at 60fps, might be different at 120....

Also, curious what Radeon card you have? I had an AMD card, and was able to unlock FPS, with what I believe was the amd weird vsync alternative setting.

5700 XT.

Enhanced V-Sync cause massive slutter and tearing, its literaly unplayable and work when he wants. Some time i go over 240. another day i cannot go above 180.
This feature is incomprehensible. ^^

they can very well lock the game engine itself at 60 fps. It's entirely possible. But is it desirable?

Honestly as Valk, having less than 110-144 fps greatly reduces my fluidity of movement and literaly the possibly to cancel some skill.

at 60 fps I can not perform, everything is played at less that 0.1 sec.
All classes that are extremely fast-paced will be directly affected and will be completely miserable to play.

Also i have a Radeon card,  The Radeon software  V-Sync removal dont work exclusivly for BDO. There is only at nvidia where it is possible to unlock the fps.

hard lock the game at 120 frame will allow the fast-paced class to be playable.  its would be largely the best compromise.

If Pearls Abyss decides to make a move about it.

They did lock the FPS to 60 about 2 years ago. Everyone (including myself) that had a system that was capable of doing beyond 60FPS with a monitor above 60hz (or with Vsync off) was experiencing massive problems. From having a few seconds delay to open the inventory to not being able to get on your horse because it was always doing the "running near horse" animation and then the "i am frustrated" animation.

People were not able to use their "interact" button to talk to NPCs etc. as if they had massive lags.

It took only 2 hours if i remember correctly for PA and Kakao to go back into maintenance mode and hotfix this, removing the fps limit, with the result that everything went back to normal operation for everyone.

And they can definitely completely fix it when they rework their engine

Well they would have to completely rework the PC engine from ground up, which is time consuming and expensive.

I do believe that the Console Versions of Black Desert use a reworked Engine, specifically for the respective console. I wasn't able to find any information about that, but it would make sense since PS4 and XBox, both are less potent when it comes to performance than a PC.

I was simply addressing a point in the quoted which stated that

"If you want to see a fix of FPS, you have to understand that Pearl Abyss needs to rework the whole graphic engine and makes the game less depend. And it's going to take a lot of time. You don't rework something like that in 2 days.
But even though they improve it, it'll never fix it correctly because you can't totally fix this."

which was factually incorrect.

Wait, you mean the devs didn't intend the game too look like this?

Clearly, the devs intended BDO Remastered to be played with a Runescape overlay.

Who wouldn't want their waifu looking like > ?  Look how pretty BDO graphics are!!

Who would waifu the musa?

I think that's supposed to be Plum, instead, looks like a horror movie concept.

The stacking of issues is a big part of the problem.  What you mentioned is correct, but when combined with things like forced PVP it just makes matters worse.  Now you have a situation with imbalanced classes, gear scores, frame rate, connection speed, and dealing with others in PVP.

For the most part one could overcome these issues in a PVE environment.  You might suffer a bit less in silver/hr, but it's manageable.  It's much tougher when an opponent is screaming DFS and trying to prevent another player from grinding.

new ryzen processors and even cheapo graphics cards can provide multiple hundreds of fps, the problem of it giving advantage is gonna be even more obvious than ever.

The solution is both simple and difficult, damage needs to be calculated 100% server side, this instantly solves the problem, but also requires a total rewrite of all damage related code in the game and would lead to higher latency...

What you see happening on your screen and what is actually happening on the server are very different.   Whether you are lagging out or moving smoothly because your computer/settings are good or not, isnt an exploit.

Your FPS do not affect the speed at which your character moves with in the server itself.  Now if you could somehow get your Nova to move around in the sever faster then any other Nova's.  That would be an exploit.

again.. what you see on your screen, and whats actually happening on the server are not always the same.  How can lowering your graphics allows to you to view the speed of the server correctly be an exploit?

fps actually directly INCREASE YOU DAMAGE OUTPUT in comparison with someone using the same gear.
