BDO background music is so bad now it's better to just turn it off.

Back in the day, if you close your eyes you can tell if your riding in Mediah/Calpheon or Valencia.  Or if your inside Calpheon city/Heidel/Altanova.

Now it's just a jumbled mess.  Got no clue why the Dev's keep screwing this up.  Just revert all the changes to OST this year and bring back old riding music.

Marni wave is not the answer lol.

This was hidden by admin due to the reports it has received.

@ Awakened Kuno:

I feel your pain.  I love the music in this game.  Once saw a post on chat a couple years ago about how a player muted the music and listened to his hard rock as he played.  I thought: "I would NEVER mute the music in this game!  It fits every place and situation SO WELL!!! It MAKES the game!!!

Now, I never play with the music on.  It's muted all the time, because it drives me nuts.  The random shuffle is senseless.  Mediah's tracks have NO cultural relation as it used to.  As you said, you used to know where you were riding based on the music playing......  Now it's all crazy, except for a few really nice tracks that they added.  But it's not enough to make me want to unmute the music.

Never thought I'd be the one to brag: "I never play with the music on."

Well it is nice to finally have the riding music back.  It was the stupidist move to get rid of it. The devs do need to be admonished on this.

 Good work guys, we are ALMOST back to where we were 3 years ago!  It should be linked to area again, then we would be back to how things were.

They got full of themselves and gutted half of the music that gave the game it's identity.

What even is this generic garbage music in Aakman and Hystria now?

And just for reference, the primary existing thread for this: https://www.naeu.playblackdesert.com/en-US/Forum/ForumTopic/Detail?_topicNo=21432.  Same trend of feedback there.

An option to toggle this back to classic style would be nice. They are introducing BDO radio but I think just toggling it between classic style, random weirdness and BDO radio or muted would be better. Give player choices and they will enjoy the new features. Force stupid changes on the player and it will cause conflict and distaste.

PS. I'd like to have an option where you can mute music but you can keep local bands on. Like in Velia how there's a music group, I would like to hear that while passing by while the music is muted.

Music

[ x ] Use content relevant music [ ] Use randomized music [ ] Use BDO Radio [ ] Mute Music

[  ] Mute in-game NPC bands

[  ] Mute player created music <-- Like shai instruments

Volume

[===========o] Master Level

[ =====o===== ] Music Level

[========o===] NPC Band Level

[========o===] Player Created Music

[==========o=] Character Voices

etc...

So good, now not so good. It really is interesting how much a gaming experience is music!

This is a good immersive aspect of BDO! Marniwave made me remember and appriciate this. The Celtic Legacy Buskers and Parades are the music of the town bands, performers, and taverns in game.

I would be happy if they just reverted the music back to the way it was when I started playing in 2018, when music was region-specific and riding mounts had its own music.  It didn't need to be this complicated.  How many MBs of disk space, CPU instructions, and developer time wasted to make music this complicated?

It was actually rather disconcerting when I heard the old school mount music while my character was fishing in Velia.

Music is SO essential.  It makes bad movies ok, and good movies bad.  It can take the greatest game in the world, and KILL it.  I tried playing with the music on again today, going through the Serendia questline.... It was OK.  It was jarring to hear the main theme play, as it had no relation to the region of Serendia.  It just doesn't.  It's a THEME song, not a soundtrack song.  There is a big difference there.  I LOVE the theme songs for this game.  They're AWESOME!  They're just not sountrack songs, and therefore have no place in-game.  Then, I got to the Calpheon quests, and the pain intensified.  The Calpheon region is probably the most diverse region in terms of the moods:  depressing like Keplan, peaceful like Florin and Crioville, mysterious like Gluttoni Cave, mystical like Lake Kaia, dire like Refugee Camp, and so forth.  To toss all those songs together and puke them up at random, KILLS the moods of the region of Calpheon.  Also, NO song fits the city of Calpheon like its theme.  Why play any other song there?

Needless to say, I have the music muted again.  I still enjoy playing this game, but............................................

Restore the music to what it was before the April 2022 patch, please, PA?  Thanks!
