I killed all the monsters and walked around for a while. My buddy told me to share his screen and go to the thing in the middle, but nothing happened

Another reason why being allowed to skip the tutorial should be a thing.  I'm guessing OP missed one enemy or the game had a seizure and needed to be restarted.

Or both things happened and OP uninstalled haha.

Personally, I think that the tutorial adds something to the story, but it's utter garbage as a tutorial. They take away all of the normal UI, and the whole thing is pretty clunky. IMHO, it gives a terrible first impression and really does not help anyone learn how to play the game. It would have been better as a cut scene that started the story and then took you straight into the actual game like we had before.
