Well, these rewards have the effects of a normal VP, book and tree, but you don't get them as an item, it is activated automatically.

I believe the Pearl Abyss plan is to rack up the inventory space on the unsuspecting non-VP users. When they fill up those last extra +16 slots at the end, expect a lot of new players in chat asking why their inventories are over full. For the new player who might be reading this;
If you don't plan to continue with VP after the event ends, make sure ALL your storage and character inventories have more than 16 slots empty at the bottom. Items will get "stuck" and you will spend the better part of a day freeing up space. You will not lose items, you just will not be able to use those items, until they get physically moved.
As for PA developers; I too don't care much for this distribution method. I would have prefered the simple item I could store for a rainy day. I know you make your well deserved income by selling these items to us, expect new players not to be impressed by the inventory logistic nightmare that follows.

Jokes on them because I put old quest items, event rewards and general clutter in the bottom 16 slots of inventory on all my alts and when the VP goes away they remain there and wont clog up my actual inventory!

If you mean to be able to use the beauty album, this is part of the value pack which is part of these buffs. So yes, you are able to change the appearance of your characters as many times as you like, and also customize the color of your gear, horse, tent, etc...

(To OP: Yes, the buffs are auto. No, you can't store them, but again, you can get these buffs normally as login items or event prizes)
Frankly peeps, I don't know why there is so much doubting and nitpicking here. It's a free bonus for sure... the only bad part is to become addicted to it all, thus feel empty once the buffs are over (then yes, it can then be called a sneaky tactic).
I sure sold the most of what I had kept in my warehouse and storages and applied all of the needed changes in customization.
I got free versions of the book, the blessing and value packs, gotten from attendance and events, to use in case there is a problem or a wish to do more once the event's over.
In sum, enjoy the good stuff but not overly so.

I don't mean to sound like a nit picker. I just am stating, I don't care for the delivery method. In the past they would deliver it as a storable item. This makes it easy on us to use them as needed. For example; let's say I have purchased my VPs from the Pearl Store in advance knowing they would run dry for my trip Paris next month. Now they have the event and add 24 days to my calendar, which would mean, upon my return I would be dry, but wasted all the freebies they handed out. Planing ahead doesn't bode well, using the current method of delivery.
For users with the cash to spend on a yearly plan, this method would monkey up planned vacations or at least make these current rewards pointless to them. I don't recommend opening up all four 90 day VPs at once, but someone might open their 90 day VP with the plan to be elsewhere in 90 days.
Don't get me wrong, I am happy for this event and getting free stuff. If they handed us a cookie, I would never complain about a free cookie. The delivery method instead is more like stuffing the cookie in your mouth, while you are still chewing, they cram in another.
Your going to get a stomach ache doing it that way. lol

Yeah, this is akin to a free but time-based and automatically-triggered subscription on buffs... You cannot change how it goes...
But again, it's extra. The more you play BDO during the event time, the more you'll benefit from it.
Just imagine if BDO was a subscription-based MMORPG... the constant stress it would bring to some. I don't think I'd want to be here then.
And yes, these buffs in normal form are easy to obtain so worrying running out of them isn't too hard (unless you can't resist a little deprivation of advantages here and there -who said P2W?!-).
