Olvia, town of newbies

Do you remember where your adventure started? What did you see just after finishing your character? Do you ever remember what did you feel in that moment? Maybe your adventure started on Duvencrune. Or maybe on Ancient Stone Chamber. Western Guard Camp maybe? Or could it be... Olvia!? (βŠ™_βŠ™;)

Long, long ago Olvia was an important place. It was one the place where your adventure start, the place where you learn the basics, where you take your first steps. It was known as the newbie town, where you go to greet new adventurers or to pick up the friend who just started playing. It had everything you could need as a new adventurer; potion vendors to supply yourself, blacksmiths to repair your first gear, storage to save your precious Withered Leaf, residences to take some rest, a trade manager to boost your economy, skill instructors to teach you how to use that staff, stable managers to take care of your donkey...

Olvia has slowly become a forgotten place, a place that a lot of adventurers don't even visit because is kinda far from the main cities. It was a place known by everyone because their adventures started there, but one day it changed. I still remember when my adventure started there back in 2016, what was the first thing I saw after creating Angela -my Valkyrie-, the first background song I listened to, my feelings when I took my first step in Black Desert world...

Maybe some of you still remember when you start there, near the cow fences and the little stable. The Black Spirit wakes you up and slowly guides you to the supply rack on the other side of the road... It was the second place where new adventurers start their journey. It was still in Olvia, but later they changed it again to be Western Guard Camp.

This place was where I met most of my friends that started playing Black Desert after me. I came here a lot of times to take them and guide them through the game and its vast world.

Olvia is a small town, a quiet and calm place, far away in nothwestern Balenos. It was a safe place, where you get back to resupply, to repair your gear, get some rest... Even the music remember you that you were in a calm place, your safe place. Nowadays, the background music in Olivia remembers you that you are in a place filled with nostalgia.

Even if it's not a busy place anymore, it's still a lively and rich town. No matter where you look, you will always find their citizens working, talking with each other, walking through their beautiful and calm streets... Olvia is a great example of the detail, how even one of the first towns of Black Desert had so many details, how Pearl Abyss love the attention to detail, how they care making us feel the world is alive, make us feel part of it. γƒΎ(≧▽≦*)o

Olvia was also where you first meet some folks that accompany you in your journey. Did you know Igor Bartali is not only Velia's mayor, but also Olvia's mayor? Do you remember the first time tou met Orwen and Lafi? Was it at Ancient Stone Chamber or Olvia? (ΰΈ‡ β€’_β€’)ΰΈ‡

It also has great places to hangout with other adventures, beautiful places to take screenshots, little areas to chill out for a while and even a table under a tree where you can play Yar! Maybe they teased us that minigame from the beginning and we didn't even noticed...

After so many years I still come back to visit the place where I started my journey. Everything have changed; I improved a lot, now I have better gear, a residence in Heidel, I explored every corner of Black Desert world, I met a lot of nice people, even members of Kakao Games and Pearl Abyss... Black Desert literally changed my life and back when I started I couldn't even imagine something like that would happen.

Olvia have a great meaning to me, it will always have a place on my heart and my mind. The more time passes, the more difficult it become for me to not drop a tear every time I come back and the background music start playing.

Sometimes is good to go back where everything started, see what have you achieved since then, realise how far have you get... Never forget from where you come.

Even though I started playing in 2017, I still remember these places with love. The nostalgia hits here <3
