Yes
I just started bartering again I have never been so eager to stop simply because auto pathing keeps either doing this ... or it beaches my boat!!!!
You can set your own straight paths if set while not holding onto the steering wheel
made a guide
Autopath at Sea is beyond repair. PA will never be able to resolve this (at Sea) because they use the same method as on Land.
We can set waypoints to travel, but although better, results are away from good, because the path still attached to the invisible grid of squares and triangles.
IMO the only and easiest way to fix this is to let us "draw" our path on the surface of the water.
Sea content design (Ships movement, reload time, water/wind behavior and many many other things), are probably one of the worst things in this game, its not even worth of a "B" game developer. It shows a total lack of understanding of how things work at Sea. So a real proof of miserable programming.
and have you ajusted the navigation setting

In the recent patch they fixed auto pathing on land to avoid everything you said above. So it was very easy to code. Don't talk silliness. They will get around to fixing the auto pathing soon enough in the Sea. Just got to be patient.
