The Silver Lining of BDO having its music trashed in April 2022

Since the April Update that ruined the music in BDO, it has been harder and harder for me to play with the music on.  These past two months, I have been playing without the music.  And then, as a lot of players do, I opted to listen to my own music.  I went to google, found the BDO tracks I just had to hear on YouTube, and I have found some amazing gems.

My favorite song in the game is the Calpheon City theme.  I can listen to it for hours on end, and it never gets old.  Whoever wrote it is a genius, and I hope they have received the compensation they deserve.  I recently found it on YouTube, that I really enjoy.  It's the theme with just a couple of differences than the version in game.  So, I figured I'd share the link.

Also, posted by the same person is an amazing jukebox tune called Prayer of Time.  It's a beautiful, melancholic tune seemingly straight from some anime.  Makes one think of the seashore on a winter day.

Never would I have found these, had PA not mangled the music.

So..... thanks?....... I guess?........

PA, PLEASE fix the music!  Restore it to as it was, pre April 2022!!!

they still play the same calphion theme in calphion, it is just they add more music with, so it is not 24/24 calphion theme

Yeah, that's what's sad.  The other music just doesn't have the same vibe.  They should have just created a toggle that could shuffle the region's music on random, IF someone so desired.

I like the original track, but then they added all of this generic inferior crap on top of it.

They ruined Helms and so many other areas.

I disagree that they ruined the music in the game. I absolutely love the Glish soundtrack ( I have literally played it on repeat from youtube when I went to sleep)  but its in GLISH and you know how often anyone goes to Glish? NEVER, but now I can listen to it ANYWHERE and I think that's awesome. Plus I generally like the rest of the music in the game so it's just an added bonus when the soundtracks I prefer come on as well.

Fair enough, but do we want to hear these tracks played in areas where they have no significance, or worse, conflict with the atmosphere?  I agree, the theme of Glish is nice.  I don't mind it playing in Heidel, but the Heidel theme fits Heidel.

There are places where it is worse: the Keplan theme plays at peaceful Calpheon farms, where nothing wrong is occuring, but it sounds like someone is having a funeral.  Any new player would be like: what?  Why the sad music all of a sudden?  Why is the mysterious Gluttoni Cave music playing right outside of Calpheon?  There's nothing mysterious there.  Why is the mystical Aakman region theme playing while I'm battling Nagas in the desert?  Why do I never hear the Red Sand Chamber theme playing in th Red Sand Chamber but always in the Desert?  The music is a confused, confusing mess that messes with being able to immerse ourselves in this world.  If I'm in the woods of Balenos, why am I hearing music that befits an island?  Same culture, wrong environment.  Why do I hear random Valencia music right outside of Velia?  Cool song, totally different culture.  Why am I hearing the rock n' roll Season Plus theme playing in Mediah?  Totally not Median music!!! Where's the guy standing nearby with the boombox?

So, yeah, there's great music, and maybe it would be nice to hear tracks at random, but at the expense of immersion?  They should have created a toggle that lets you select listening to tracks at random when you don't want to hear the established soundtrack.  That way those who play for immersion can, and those that prefer random tracks playing anywhere, can.

It's a law in multimedia, that when you want to get the audience into what you're doing: movies, RPG's, music is CRUCIAL.  If it's random, no story is told, no environment or situation can arise.  Random tracks cannot make this happen.  It creates conflict, it ruins the experience.  Glad they fixed it for you, but they ruined it for me.

Peace.
