Hello Advenurers
My Name is Ishgard.
Some of you may know me being active in our official bdo discord and some may not know me at all and thats okay.
Honestly i wanted to post something that would actually be helpful to new comers as quite often i see people asking the same questions and not fully understanding what the answers we provide to them. Most times they are expecting a short handed answer quick and straight to the point and other times want steps laid out to them 1 step at a time.
As one of the Ambassadors it is my job to help all those who learn in different ways and try to cater to their needs in any way i can. So feel free to either get in contact with me via the offical BDO discord or via posting under here.
With some of the formalities out of the way what i aim here is the Common Questions and Answers to them and i will be updating this as i go along with more and more as time goes by when i find issues and other topics people are struggling on so their expereince in BDO is less stressful and frees up yourtime so you can just experience the game the way you want to.
Questions & Answers
• What is Tuvala gear and what do i do post-season for gear
Well Tuvala Gear is the gear set people strive towards when you have made a seasonal character.
It is obatained in mainly two ways;
First being Exchanged from PEN Naru gear To PRI Tuvala which is gained by Enhancing The Naru gear you get from the main quests with Beginner Blackstones
Secondly can be Obtained by exchanging Tuvala Ore To blacksmiths In Major towns or cities
(Tuvala ore is obtainable from defeating monsters in Valencia, Kamasylvia, Drieghan, and O’dyllita. )
The Tuvala Gear Set when at PEN has a gear score of 543
The Stats of a PEN Tuvala set are;
Attack:
- AP 236~242 (239)
- Awakening AP 236~247 (241)
- Accuracy 308
- Max MP(EP)/WP/SP 100
- Max Stamina 200
- Weight Limit 80LT
- Bonus AP 40
- Bonus Awakening AP 40
Defense:
- DP 303
- Max HP 300
- Damage Reduction Rate 14%
- Ignore All Resistance 10%
- Damage Reduction 164
- Evasion 139
- Hidden Damage Reduction 49
- Hidden Evasion 358
Extras:
- Extra Damage to All Species 29
- Extra AP Against Monsters 68
- Attack Speed 4
- Casting Speed 1
Once Obtained PEN Tuvala is your max goal in gear while playing seasonal but this doesnt mean you should stop here. As the Idea moves onto what is my post season gear going to be. The answer to this is dependable on what your goals are in bdo
As Each season you are given one season graduation gift coupon ( which is exchanged mainly for a PEN Capotia Acessory) aswell as a Season Boss Exchange coupon (Which will allow you to exchange one piece of Tuvala gear to a boss piece with a set piece given back to you as shown below ( This can be exchanged with any Enhancement PRI to PEN Tuvala and you will be given a boss piece with one less enhancement then excahnged for example hand over a TET Tuvala armor you will get a TRI Dim Tree back so it is better used on PEN Tuvala )
Tuvala Armor-Dim Tree Spirit’s Armor
Tuvala Shoes-Muskan’s Shoes
Tuvala Gloves-Bheg’s Gloves
Tuvala Helmet-Giath’s Helmet
Tuvala Main Weapon-Kzarka Main Weapon
Tuvala Sub-weapon-Kutum Sub-weapon
Tuvala Awakening-Weapon Dandelion Awakening Weapon
You can also save up Silver and buy other peoples items that they sell to gear up but this will be expensive especially if you are new to BDO so i wont go into too much detail here.
Or you can do what most people now days opt in for is Going with the Jetina Guarenteed Boss gear process as shown below.
• Guaranteed PEN gear
As Mentioned above this will be another option for you to choose.
Now going down this Path is new for some people and can be a little confusing at first but not to worry as hopefully i will shed some light on it.
This Option is done with only PEN Tuvala or a TET Boss piece bought from market or made yourself ( It is in your best interest to do this exchange with PEN Tuvala as it wont cost you actual silver to do so.) This Method is a One time per piece Family quest meaning ONE PIECE PER SLOT PER ACCOUNT but you will have the option of choosing any Boss piece of gear you want to depending on how you want to progress with your gear. Now there is alot of information regarding this system so i wil be brief on the subject and you are free to have a read up on https://grumpygreen.cricket/exchange-boss-gear/ Where it has all the information you require for this System as i do not want to bore you with a guide thats already been made with peoples hard work.
• Best grinding spots for newbies to level up
Some of the best grinding spots is a tough choice for some of the newer players as most people have goals in mind whether this be i want to make silver or i want skill points or i just want to level up so i will leave this up to dealers choice as there are mutiple ways of going about this.
Here are some of the ways i give people the information they want.
Levelling guide.

A Spreadsheet by Duodecil which i quite happily link to as people to see baselines in spots and then make their own tests to see where they gain the most xp, silver, skill points from with their own gear
Overall this question has mutiple answers as most of the Grind spots that PA gives us are good at different things and different places in AP/DP and your levels.
Honestly i am still one of those people who level 1 to 56 via the Mainstory quests then go to desert fogans or leech xp to 59 then do the chenga tome quests 59-61 for my method as i still aim towards 30k total Quests for my own goals which may differ to yours.
• End of season (graduation)
Now This is mainly for people who are deciding on Should i graduate early or should i wait till end of season and let the system graduate the character for them. Personally If you are a Newer player and this is your first time? Stay till the very last day and if you are a Veteran of the game You can either stay till end of season or once you have finished your season pass and got your PEN Tuvala you can early graduate when it comes out each season ( Usually middle of seasons is when the option is released)
The Reasoning behind this is that your main goal for season is to set yourself up for post season(graduation) If you stay on Season channels you have access to the season materials just by grinding the same mob zones and the Time Filled Black Stones can either be exchanged into mainly Advice of Valks(Failstacks) or sold for pure silver to help you purchase better gear in the future. You want to be able to get into better end game grind spots such as Elvia Realms and make the big silver? stay season untill you know you can start reaching higher AP/DP brackets as this will help you so much instead of just graduating then getting stuck doing the same mobs but now just less silver as you lose access to season materials being dropped by the mobs which will just slower your progress as a newer player.
• What class to play
Now this question in my mind is always going to be contested as a personal preference as i am not one to follow the meta as stuff is always changing for different aspects of the game such as best PVE,PVP,PVX class stuff is always getting nerfed or buffed at some point so in the end playing the flavour of the month may not be in everyones best interest. What i suggest is Pick the coolest thing you can think off something that you will enjoy grinding constantly with or doing whatever you want in your time that you play BDO as is rather be on one of the classes i enjoy instead of risking burnout on a class that is supposedly the best in PVE for example even though i hate that class.
Bit of advice here is id rather you play a class of your own choosing as you will most likely put more effort and time into that class then you would on something thats the so called best class in game and find out you hate playing it so you quit the game week later etc.
Have a Look on youtube for videos of classes or join the Class discords ( found through our official BDO discord) https://discord.gg/blackdesertonline
This is it for now so hopefully its not a TLDR thing that people just dont enjoy reading but feel free to give any feedback or things i should try to answer in the future. As Always Stay safe and enjoy the game.
Yours faithfully,
Ishgard.
Thanks for making this, good stuff!
I have a Guardian at 62,, and a Hashashan at 59. Do I have to start a whole new character to get Tuvala ?
sorry for the long reply but each season you make a set of tuvala and can only bring one set of tuvala out of season to gear up your alts or main depending on what your ap/dp is at. I use each season to gear up my alts. Feel free to join the bdo discord so you can get these questions answered faster sorry again
Thanks for making this, good stuff!
