I cannot log in with either my Lahn or Witch, or can I change to either of them from the in-game character selection screen? I tried the verify integrity of game files from Steam and the scan from the launcher. The game will either freeze up or close if I try to select them. Think I have tried 5 times or more now with no luck

I looked through the log files and (at least in my case) it was indeed a cache issue. The client crashed on the fauilty characters when it tried to load the GameVariable files. But... fun fact: With the new cache archive implementaion, the client automatically stores your user cache on the server every time the client exits. Even when it crashes apparently. :D And then, on log in, it automatically downloads and sets it. So, deleting the UserCache folder is essentially userless now.

But to fix the issue:

- go to: ...\Documents\Black Desert\UserCache\34247\400 (34247 might be different for you)

- here you will see folders named with long numbers each containng a single gameVariable.xml file

- if you know your faulty characters's id, choose that folder, and delete only the gameVariable.xml. If you don't, go through all the folders with the long numbers here, and delete the gameVariable.xml in each of them. (Don't delete the folder itself, cause it might prompt the client to redownload the cache. But I haven't tested it this way.) Only delete the gameVariable.xml-s in these subfolders. Don't delete the one in the ..\400\ folder or in any other.

- now you can log in, but you lost your character specific settings.

edit: I just realized, that if you go into your Adventurers profile here on the forums by clicking your main character's name, then the order of characters there matches the order in the .\400\ folder. So you can find the faulty character's file like that and delete it. So you won't lose all your settings. But trial characters are not included on this list, but they are present in the 400 folder, so, up to you if you wanna mess with this or just delete everything.

Thank You, that works for now, but all it really did was move the problem from the two characters to two different characters.

So as a workaround, I deleted all the character files in the folder leaving only the two files at the bottom. It seems to work, but still testing the workaround. Hopefully it will still work tomorrow

Hello,

Our team has discovered an issue that prevents certain users from accessing their character if said character has the option of showing underwear on.

We are going to apply a patch soon in order to fix this issue. But meanwhile, please try the following in order to solve it:

1. Go to the file directory: Documents → Black Desert → UserCache folder
2. Go to [★User No★] folder -> Go to [400] folder
3. Go to [★Affected Character No★] folder
4. Open the GameVariable.Xml file using Notepad.
5. Find the line: Type="isUnderwear" Value="true" and change the true value to false.
6. Restart the game client and check if the character can be accessed. If the issue persists, please send another support inquiry.

Thank you for your collaboration and patience.

That may work, but I have never changed the underwear setting to hide. This patch broke more than you think. But I did get all my characters to load after many hours of deleting this and that, logging in and out.

Argh...

Have same problem now but I was able to login earlier. After patch used only my main so I cant say if others were problem too but today I left her on fishing. Got game crashed. Now I cant access any character. Game crashes at character selection, or I could say after. Exactly when I pick char, try to load her. Loading screen shows and at around 50% boom. gone. nada. I play through game launcher not steam. About underwear thing, I never changed this. So it is as it was default. And I didnt have problems with main for around 30h since patch. Happened recently. Tried deleting cache, repair.... Have no idea what I could do more...
