Quest boards for adventurers to find quests, errands, or jobs is a common feature across any fantasy universe. Why? because its incredibly convenient for the person with the task, and for those that want to do it. Players can visit the boards at each city, grab the dailys, complete them, then visit the NPC to get the reward, similar to how you would in RL. It's pretty much how we dealt with things in RL in the past when communication was pigeon and paper based.

The board would only show the daily/weekly repeatable quests in the region of that major city, not any of the story/adv quests, and the addition of the Quest board, would let you also add new daily/weeklys that can be rotated each week, and be less tedious. Event quests can also be listed here, reducing the reliance on the quest journal, that is chock full of stuff that can be confusing or overwhelming to new players. 

Having people run around was a major factor in how you designed the game at the beginning because of the lack of areas/content. Now that its all there, any remnants of that way of designing should be removed, and starting with the Quest Board is a great way to start.
