But it's clearly possible. And I also think they should make swimming clothes in addition to the pearl shop outfits, this would make the underwater gathering more attractive!
After all, there's already combinations of pearl shop outfits with ingame clothes for everything else! (training, cooking, fishing, alchemy... even to gather with the treant outfit or to resist to the desert illness with the other gilly!)

Well, I'd rather have a nice swimsuit, but even a horrible one would be great since there's nothing atm.
I mean if ships would be fast and the barter items lighter, it would be a buff to Bartering and that's was I want tbh. Its such a bad money/h if you look at most other lifeskills right now. And you need so much time and money to actual build the damn boat.
Also still unsure why we can color our ships, at least the sails. Even if u buy the riducculus expensive Ship Skin you can not color it. Why??? I can run around with a horse with a pink/purple/blue/lilac/green armor and can have pink hair that stands in all directions.....but somehow we have a problem with maybe ppl having pink sails?

Have you ever gathering anything on a larger scale under water? Eg. for Dried Pearl Oyster Flesh for Chowder?
As I wrote: I have 30 seconds from the fairy and 30 seconds from the costume, plus a huge bonus to swimming speed from the costume and still diving is terrible. Diving and surfacing every minute is stupid and annoying. Now imagine a player without fairy and without an item shop outfit: scuba diving doesn't exist for such people.
Well, having to get back to the surface doesn't annoy me. But I only talk for me here.
I don't even have a fairy buff and I can stay underwater like 75 or 90 sec, I don't remember, and I find it enough, without using the agile seal elixir.
I'm not complaining about breathing needs in the game, but moving faster would be more comfortable (and would also compensate the breathing needs for the people complaining about it, imo).
Now, I'm not sure of what u mean by "a larger scale", but at the moment I love gathering underwater. :)

Add means to gather materials from sea content that form a "cup" (like for accessories) that adds some swimming/underwater breathing perks to a gatherer's clothes?

More random mini-boss sea spawns like Lekreshan.
Increase Moss Covered Map drop rates at sea crocs.
Add a wharf at sea crocs and sea monster habitat (lekreshan area).
New sea monsters (not re-skins of hekaru/stalker/nineshark/etc).
Special equipment drops for sailing/bartering (accessories that enhance boat skills + sailing mastery etc).
Add Barter exp to the 3 bartering quests (Velia, Oquilla, Illya).
Increase Sailing exp on all sailing daily quests.
Gain sailing exp in ANY zone you're sailing in, not just Margoria.
Change sea monsters to give sailing exp instead of combat exp when killed.
Look at the map. There is a HUGE section of unused space in the Northeast and Southwest that could easily be used for more sea content.

Actually I kind of already mentionned to create better loots zones and higher monsters zones so I didn't edit those points.
I already had asked too to add some sailing and bartering accessories.
After reading you I edited my post to ask for some wharves in open sea, at the bartering spots. I also asked to add more bartering quests.
Now, you already gain sailing exp near the coast, even though it is slower than in the open sea, the same way we gain more training xp when it's out of safe zones with our horses.
And about the sea monsters that would give sailing exp instead of combat exp when killed, I'm not sure about that myself, I'm fine about getting combat xp. It's like when I kill wolves, I gain combat xp, then I butcher them and I gain gathering xp. Killing is still linked with combat xp.
Now, if you all guys think different, please express yourselves, I'll keep taking your comments in consideration. ;)
