It's such a simple change i can't believe it hasn't happened. The MARNI realm buff is so bad for the game it's ridiculous. Might as well make every single thing instanced now. No open world interaction whatsoever. ALL that needs to happen is bring back Velia 1-6 servers (NOT RENAMING OLD ONES) and make them PvE only. Maybe make "Drieghan" or "O'dyllita" servers if that's not enough, but alienating the playerbase into a single player grind arc is just NOT the move guys.
Pearl Abyss, you have stated that Marni realm already puts strains on your already unstable servers... so just remove it. PvE servers are already proven to be possible (Olvia, Season) I don't understand how intentionally killing your original design for BDO is a good thing. EVERYTHING the game used to have is slowly slipping away. I hate to say it but QoL isn't gonna keep new players around they quit after 1 month realizing the grind ahead of them. No one wants to kill millions of mobs for MONTHS to feel relevant. Stop touching cron stones and hire sane people or ACTUAL PLAYERS THAT KNOW THE GAME.

The pvp crowd shouted down pve servers.
BDOffline. Turning the game into PoE.
Because it is ineffective?
Horses.
Training horses on the long straight is twice as fast as in the city. Also, strange stops occur in the city during horse training. So you are full buffed, start afk horse training and 3 minutes later you are stop. 5 hours later it turns out that you have been standing still for 5 hours.
Fishes.
Not all fish can be caught in the safe zone. Also, fishery in safe zones are mostly red, so fishing in them lasts about 5 times as long.
Do you understand how to grind we have a pvp character and a grind character, these are easy
The pvp crowd shouted down pve servers.
I've talked to a few hundred people in twitch chat and discord and everyone agreed having 6-12 NEW, keyword NEW not renamed PvE servers is alot better than perma marni realm, for everyone. I guarantee 90% of people getting "griefed" are just running around random spots killing stuff all out of order and not saying anything. New players don't know what a rotation is. Granted PA should have made a proper tutorial explaining these things years ago but i digress. Marni Realm is seriously so bad for the game it's ridiculous. BDO was already flamed as a single player grind fest for years and now they're just like ok yea we are actually, 100%. "We're also not gonna do anything about the PvP progression/modes either."
I think most people on both sides would be way happier with an actual roadmap and stuff they're trying to do and WHY they're doing it. Not just oh we have a new player influx that's gonna quit in a month but we wanna cater to them instead of our longtime fans that brought the game where is today, roughing it out for 5-6 years. Not about them anymore.
PvP disabled server - instead - of Marni Realm
YES please, i never liked how we got Marni or Elvia Realm

With the new Karma changes and war declarations only being done by the GM of the guild now, season servers are your best bet. The only PvP that can happen on season servers (other than season_pvp) is from guilds that are declared on each other for war. Olvia servers have this same thing but will force you out with too many characters (family fame) so it's more for new folk. Marni realms give you some decent protection from them for hours at a time. If you join a guild, you get 3 home servers you can bounce between without a cooldown and attempt to avoid the PvPer. Alternative characters are another great way to escape a griefing player, do something else for a bit, you're dombat and drop buffs pause when you swap to another character. I have a lvl 49 I've had since 2016 for Horse training, farming and bartering when I was worried about pirates. There wasn't ever a real issue with being attacked with that character but now I can horse train anywhere, even a red zone.
My number one suggestion to avoid griefer, stay calm. Getting upset is what they need, comments that might hurt their eggo are far better like "Ooo, nice kill champ. Maybe one day you can fight people with similar gear!" and then leave it. Never show you are upset, never curse, etc. That's what they want, if you're boring, or run to avoid the deaths, they will avoid you. Get good at running, grind on the oppositie side of the node spawn so when you die and spawn at node, you're on the other side of the grind spot that the grifer. Make them work for it. We can all focus on making the game more boring for griefers.
Edit: I'd like to add that if we removed PvP from a server entirely, you'll have griefers simply grinding next to you, ruing your drops, the XP and upsetting you just as much. I see it on season servers and people upset they can't flag on grifers. At least on season servers the gear max is reasonble to hit for everyone. I recommend always haveing a season character
PvE-only content, however it's implemented, is going to be good for the game's growth. Why? Because it accommodates those people who don't like PvP. The more playstyles you accommodate as a game, the more players will be willing to stick around and play. That's just "keep an MMO alive" 101.
Anyone against that isn't acknowledging that, isn't looking at the long-term for BDO - think about it. If the game chases away 5/10 people because "reee new players don't understand this rotation mechanic that the game never actually teaches you about, so they got what they deserved" then that's a missed opportunity to potentially double their revenue by retaining that 5/10 who want PvE centric content.
That said, let's look at the present. The reality is that BDO has been adding more story, voice acting, and ways to enjoy the game without being interrupted while still getting to interact with friends. At least in the Western market, that's the formula that is proven to work. It works in WoW, it works in FFXIV, and it's working here now.
Most likely? They're going to keep at it. They have role models in the market that are showing them the path to profitability, so they're going to find their own way to take advantage of that. Marni's realm is a way to keep from splitting the player base while giving everyone the thing they want. It's a great first effort.
Instead of complaining about who's right and who's wrong, lets just recognize that there's a large crowd on both sides who wants things, and both of those crowds represent income streams for PA - and the more income they get, the more they can continue to invest in the game, improve the engine, and make things better for *everyone*.
Sure, PvE only server, -50% drop rate and you can have it.
There really isn't a reason for a PvE server to begin with, the "randomly getting PKed" doesn't happen at the rate people complain about. The only time I have ever gotten attacked is when I was being a not so nice person and grinding over someone else. I wanted to see how long it would take people to attack me if I just started grinding over them. Most of the time people just left, on very rare occasions did people actually attack. I find it really hard to believe that people are getting attacked at grind spots to the extent people claim.
Again people missing the point.
As a Pve only game, bdo is awful.
What's the point of gear progression or learning your class if you never need most of it.
Hiding players away from each other and discouraging PvP is a terrible idea.
Adding incentive to take part in rewarded PvP would be better for everyone.
As for OP, use a lvl 49 or use safezones.
As a permared, I guarantee I'll kill you if spotted outside otherwise.
Adapt or die.
