Wanted to up my training last night so I popped a bunch of horse and training buff, set a auto-path up inside a safe zone, watched my character make the loop a few times to make sure it wouldn't get stuck, minimized the game to tray, fell asleep, woke up, and my character had gotten stuck immediately. Wasted all my horse buffs, wasted all that electricity. What did I do wrong???? How do people horse train overnight? I see lots of people doing it.

For reference, I afk fish overnight with the game in the tray with zero problems. My PC is hard-wired to my router so I don't really ever lose connection. So what am I doing wrong with horse training? How do people horse train overnight?  I see lots of people doing it. Are you not supposed to minimize when horse training? Really confused cause I lost a lot of valuable buffs. 

Yes it happens for everyone all the time. Just have to be lucky to avoid it.

I have rly shitty internet but I usually survive the night when training horses. Can never fish for a full night though it usually stops after 5-10 fishes.

Depending on your computer, connection, and luck, you might be able to AFK horse train with the game minimized, or you might not. The game sometimes goes stupid when your character is running around with the game minimized. For me, I'm usually able to run my horse AFK just fine, but if I use the Forest Path Wagon with auto-forest rush, it's guaranteed to crash into something very quickly. However, if I leave the game open normally rather than minimized, then I don't have those problems. I have guild mates who have similar issues with horses without dealing with the wagon, so how bad it is will vary from person to person.

So, I would suggest that if you want to AFK train horses that you leave the game fully open rather than minimizing it. A network hiccup could still occassionally screw you over (e.g. if your game disconnects even briefly, you'll find your character standing in the middle of the road next to your horse), but your horse won't be running into stuff, and as long as network hiccups aren't common for you, you should be able to AFK train your horse overnight just fine the vast majority of the time.

Are you using a Manos crop? I kept having the issue that with the game minimised for months and couldnt do training at all, while having a Manos rod equipped, as my horses would get stuck immediately at the next turn. Then i tried it with a green one, and havent had any issues since. I'm somehow assuming the 1 FPS you get while in tray interacts with the turn / speed ratio in some way, since it doesnt happen when the game is running on normal FPS.

Unfortuanately a lot can happen to cause you to stop training.

1. Your internet might lose a packet causing BDO to do crazy things. (usually horse stops)

2. BDO's servers could lose a packet making it do crazy things. (usually horse stops)

3. You could run into another player and stop entirely due to collision related bugs

4. Another player could have placed an object or monster in your path at some point in time causing you to stop

5. You could have gone too fast and the game suddenly said you should stop training or get stuck in a corner

6. The act of minimizing makes your horse stop entirely

7. Mystery bugs??

Those are the reasons that come to mind, it's not limited to it being minimized either. Anything can happens so if you plan to AFK overnight, don't. You'll probably spend like $40 or $60 in electricity for maybe a few hundred mil silver. Not worth it. I mean if you really want that silver you could buy a premium outfit or two and sell them for less than what it costs for electricity. There was a time too that people recommended crypto mining instead but that ship sailed and sunk already.

Good luck! Maybe they can include a remedy where you resume whenever it stops on its own.

Why are we training mounts on city streets anyway?  Maybe having a training track or two should be a thing. Or something like that.

just for a bit of idea about randomness of it all. i work from home so i often will start my horse on a loop and then check in about every hour. at one point i checked in, and somebody else had been training along the same path with a trade pack. if you have done this before you know that when moving a trade pack from place to place bandits will spawn periodically. for some reason the player with the trade pack had bugged out and was stuck on something and not taking any damage from the bandits. therefore the bandits were stuck in the middle of the road doing an attack animation but not moving, and my horse could not get through them and was just stopped. i had to actually change servers in order to start doing my loop again.

what i would really prefer, but this will probably never happen - is that when you log out you just choose some kind of afk activity that you normally need to stay logged in to do, and it keeps on computing while you are logged off for the character you log off with. for instance, you choose horse training - the game will then just calculate how far you would have traveled on your horse up until the next time you log in, and the training just happens automatically - for both you and your horse. 

i think there are several afk activities that could be set up to work this way and i think it would be a great quality of life thing.

Horse treadmills when?

I solved it by unequipping the manos riding crop. Horse was too fast and pc couldnt keep up with its speed for the whole night

Jup had the same issue as i said. The green crop works for me though. Havent tried the blue one
