As a long time Shai main and member of the Shai community I want to make this post to address some desperately needed changes.
Shai has been left behind over the course of this year and last year with the release of succession, blackstar awakening weapons and general buffs for all other classes in the game, and with the patch of today we have lost our mechanic to keep 100% uptime on our strongest debuff.
Both of those things combined have put Shai in a spot where end-game PvE is no longer viable, especially the solo end-game PvE.
We struggle to compete in efficiency with all succession classes in the game and this is especially noticeable in any of the hadum spots, to counter this I suggest we have 30% of our talent AP applied to our mainhand, this can be applied in PvE only.
This is a fair change and I think desperately needed in those spots where mobs have a high amount of DR.
As mentioned before, the patch released today removed the mechanic of cancelling back into talent and recasting our previous song, this was used by a lot of Shai mains at these high end spots to keep 100% uptime on Misty Haze and made us able to debuff every pack of mobs, with the before mentioned lack of mainhand AP relative to other classes this makes high-dr mobs a lot harder to grind efficiently at the same AP, to counter this I want to suggest a reduction in cooldown to match those of our flute buffs (10 sec).
So to sum it up:
- Have 30% of our talent AP apply to our mainhand.
- Reduce the cooldown on Misty Haze to match our flute buffs.
These are in my opinion the 2 easiest fixes to our class, however there's a lot more areas we'd like to see improvements in.

After a lot of discussion with Phel and other Shai mains, we have expanded on original post above and some of the ideas mentioned in Phel his thread.
In this edit I want to give what I personally think are the most realistic changes we should ask for in the most concise format.
These suggestions do not include every change I like to see for the sake of keeping things as simple as possible and as realistic as possible.
I hope these changes can serve as a foundation to make Shai viable again in PvE and that additional future tweaks will put her in the position where she truly shines.
Highlighted in red are the absolutely crucial changes that need to be implemented to save our class.
As long as these are not adressed we will not be able to grind spots like hadum effectively.

- Make skill a passive.
- Change it so that "tuck and roll" and "hop" can be used from the hotbar to swap back to main-hand.
- Change it so that the song which you are playing has no maximum duration of playtime.
- Change it so that "hop-three" can be used to swap back to main-hand smoothly.
Other Changes
- Add addons to our talent skills.

- Address the issue with hit register on moving monsters (especially in hadum areas).

everytime I see a shai in open world, I feel nothing but pity
They basically don't want you to play Shai.
Even if we support shai, it's always left behind, mocked and looked down on i NA/EU.

I think this is largely due to the fact that she hasn't been getting enough attention / forgotten she exists with new content updates, such as weapons and high-end grinding zones and succession releases.
Not having any main damage skills in talent and not getting a succession treatment for having almost all damage skills on mainhand now puts us at a spot where we are lacking over 100 ap compared to other classes.
This starts to matter with mobs that have high dr like all mobs in the hadum spots, we simply can't grind effectively.
The reason for this?
I'm assuming none of the developers main Shai or tested her there so this issue wasn't known until now :c

I don't think I can advocate for this any better than OP, but I would like people to know that there are other Shais out still hoping for the right changes to come.

It's probably hard for them to balance this game and keep it that way, it looks like to me generally stuff are not properly tested, they seem to be implementing certain things with not enough thought being put into sometimes in terms of class balance then stuff stay that way for a very long time until it's resolved/rebalanced, and to me the fact that they did not realize the 2% crit damage on main weapons for a a long time and them not being able to remove the 2% crit damage from blackstar weapons and forcing them into adding 2% damage into offin and kzarka was basically a fiasco. I believe this sort of show they may not be aware or not taking feedbacks seriously enough. We shouldn't forget as playerbase that Black Desert is a quite innovative and ambitious mmorpg, it will be hard to ultimately make it into a very balanced game, considering there are quite a bit of classes and almost all of them have awakening+succession.
Regardless, we put our hopes on Pearl Abyss to strive to push the balancing and testing process of classes' performance in the game we love, I hope our feedbacks reach to them.

I totally AGREE! This is the reason why I was so upset after the new release. Not only is the new talent skill useless, as mentioned in my other post....The fact that they have taken away pocket is the WORST. Although I no longer need it at Oluns, but other places rely heavily on it at end-game spots. If GMs continue to neglect this class, I dont know what to do. BTW Shortcakes, can you please repost this on "Suggestion" Forum? I doubt that the GMs even look at Shai forum.....

I explicitly intended to post this on the Shai subforum since I've had bad experiences putting these in the general "suggestions" section, our requests are usually not well received by people who think she is an S tier grinder because some tier list by a streamer / youtube said so or they are salty because they get bongo'd by a dp Shai in nw / siege.
