Title: Prevent players from griefing while still keeping the game an open world PvP
Family Name:
Jhavis

Region (NA/EU): EU

Suggestion/Comments:  I believe the majority of players agree that griefing is only fun for a minority of players and that's fine, BDO is a PvP game after all.
That's why I thought about a way that we could safeguard the players that do not have fun with griefing and turning the "community standard" of DFS "official".

How this crazy idea could work:

- First of all, we could keep the current way of playing the game and just add a new server or change one of the servers to the following idea/system that I will suggest bellow.
- So on this "special server", each player upon arriving to a grinding spot, if the rotation is free then a player that starts grinding, gets an "owner of the spot buff" that allows him to damage mobs and this buff lasts for 1hour. (PS: We would need to make recognized by PA official grinding rotations to make it work, maybe only on main rotations from Marni Server??)
- A second player upon arriving at that rotation/grinding spot, can't apply damage to the mobs, or to the person grinding unless he challenges him to a Duel for Spot.
- The player with the buff that is currently grinding, has to accept the duel request, otherwise, he loses the buff to grind there, getting 1 hour debuff and it automatically shifts to the challenger.
- If the player accepts the duel (as he should), the current active BUFFS and Lootscroll will be paused and won't take effect during the duel time, the winner of the spot will either continue with his buff or get the buff, and the loser will have a cooldown from preventing to challenge for a Duel again on that server for 1h.
- Whoever wins the duel, get's a 5 min buff that prevents him to be challenged to a Duel again. So the next challenger that shows up would have to wait 5 min to request a Duel OR change server. Keeping it to a maximum allowed of 12 duels per hour (in theory).

To prevent abuse of this system:

- If the adventure leaves the spot or stays "AFK" for more than 2 minutes he loses the buff. Giving the opportunity for new players to grind freely upon arrival.
- To make it easier for challengers, if a challenger types on chat "duel-for-spot" a prompt will show up for the player grinding, having a 30 seconds cooldown to reply.
- Whenever the challenged player accepts the duel for spot, mobs won't be able to attack either of them, and they teleport to the player close to each other, and the duel will start whenever the players say "ready" on general chat, having a 15~30 seconds maximum decision time.
I understand that this may sound absurd to some players, but the likely open-minded players feel free to comment on your thoughts about this system and if it would be beneficial even if PA only allows 1 server like this per region of the game while keeping the "traditional" game as it is.
People that love to grief, would be able to do it on standard servers if they want to.

Sounds intricate. I like it but... I doubt they'd do this since they said it themselves. They want to feel the game to be 'alive' or 'open world' so to speak.
The marni realm (private 1 hour) felt like a rabbit hole and they won't consider even making it 2 hours. Unfortuantely as much as people wanted that.

But honestly game is at a day and age where you barely bump into people. So I don't know if it'll affect things that much.

I agree with the points u made, but I think this could be the middle-ground between Marni servers and the current open-world PvP game mode.

They could even opt out of Marni to replace it with something like this.

People that like to PvP or play the game the normal way would still do it on "normal" servers, and people that absolutely hate griefing, or hate facing people that do not comply with the DFS "standard", would at least have the option to grind normally and not waste time with Guild Wars if they don't want to.

Also since it would be just one server, if you can't win on that server you are forced to go back to the "normal" ones, so I don't think it would go too far away from what's PA vision for the game as being "alive".

What do you think about this perspective?

Thanks for your feedback! :)

What these combinations for? The only problem is open pvp that should be removed from the game. Period. End of story.

Opting out of Marni servers? So out of something that has literally 1 mechanic that has been already funded, had time spent on its development and is currently used by a good portion of the player base? Only to spend a lot more time, more money and create and incredibly complicated system that very few people would use, if at all... I don't know.

I'd add that, if we assume a lot of players want to grind the same - one, as per your proposal - spot (which they don't), you'd be creating a whole new set of mechanics while, at the same time, removing all the normal spots on that server just to serve how many players? 1/spot?
You go there, hoping that one spot is free, but it isn't. You challenge the grinder and you lose. You now have to wait 5 minutes to go back to whatever server you came from.

The only thing that makes some sense out of the whole proposal if for all consumables (pots, scrolls, etc) to be put on pause while a duel is active. No combat xp, no lootscroll, no draughts, no hp pots. For the duel to be fair... kinda. Still, even this doesn't sound realitistic.

To begin with, PA would have first to recognize Duel for Spot as a rule and they don't. It's not a rule and NO, players SHOULD not accept if they don't want.

You can't force players to play the game the way YOU want.
