There's way too many trolls spamming racist and discriminating "opinions" claiming it is a joke, saying things like "trans is a mental illness" and that gays should all die for their sins, and the classical trolling about holocaust never existing and jews needing to die and racist slurs but disguising it as a joke. Although it's not so apparent in the main servers, Olvia growth servers have an abundance of these types every single day. Pearl Abyss, please consider putting in a live moderator, because trolls constantly bypasses filters and adds in rather vile statements for the sake of "memes". There's also harassments in the growth servers for asking simple in-game questions that gets drowned out by insults, in which other friendly players have to step in and tell them to stop. Which results in petty arguments. I see this especially on Olvia 4.

Before you get offended and tell me that I should leave chat when it happens or that I am a twiggered snowflake, I want to clarify that I don't mind dark humor and jokes if they're actually funny. Spamming above things and more for a reaction is just a negative PR for this game. Moderating or at least giving these people a warning would help the community quite a bit as there can be normal conversations in Server/Group chat that won't be drowned out by the typical negative groups that drops in "hot takes" to hahaown a triggered user. In turn there would be a more pleasant community experience for newcomers of Black Desert.

Right now, Olvia out of all servers is not a community friendly place. There has been instances where there isn't anything of the above(non-peak hours for example). They are rare, but provides a far preferable way to chat/read chat than constantly seeing people argue with the logic that "if you don't like the hard N word or the unwitty spam about deaths of LGBTA then you should leave cause it's all just for *fun*".

It's kind of funny that people like PeaceInChaos try to promote forcing a game PVP environement, but don't accept the reality you mention here: that is the BDO community saying all those things and acting that way.

Yet they should be given the power to dramatically impact others game play.

You can't even prevent them from filling chat with filth, yet Pearl Abyss trusts them to provide a nice forced interaction over resources?

When will Pearl Abyss and PeaceInChaos wake up to reality?

Thankfully your suggestion is already done, as PA gave you power to moderate the chat.

To use it, click on the player's name, and click block.

topic can be closed.

That does not help anybody in the least. It does not solve the current issue either. It won't go away with a simple block. That wasn't even what I suggested. I suggested Pearl Abyss to have someone view the chat every now and again, and moderate when needed. When someone is having a good time, whatever. If someone is arguing, whatever. But the arguments OF the topic comes from people that expects no repercussions for what they say in-game. If individuals can block and move on as most of us can do that's good for them but that only means the trolls will target a new person and continue that cycle until somebody from PA halts it somehow.

So no, blocking is not moderation. It's a temporary solution to a long term problem within every game in existence.

Or, y'know, PA could actually enable the Player Report button so that it's easier to report somebody and not clog up support tickets. Then they'd solve another problem on the fly.

Edited to clear up some stuff.

I hope you have an Ellion's Tear for PeaceInChaos.  You just brutally slayed him in front of everyone.

So what you're saying is, CHAT can be quickly disabled by the click of a button WHILE you CAN NOT do the same thing with other player interactions like mob feeding?

Almost as if it's easy to disable text whether it's sexual, racism or otherwise. However, Much more Difficult to deal with players affecting your game play.

Hmmm interesting.

no, players should be able to say whatever they want, you can be the moderator by blocking them.

if you don't like their opinion, block them.

Go read the Operating Policy.  Toxic behaviors in chat that violate their policies can get one banned.  I don't hesitate to report players like that.

Pearl Abyss, please consider putting in a live moderator, because trolls constantly bypasses filters and adds in rather vile statements for the sake of "memes".

1. There aren't enough trolls (or victims) otherwise the forum would be flooded with chat filter suggestions.

2. The best chat janitor is to be your own janitor. Also, you could segregate from the chat or congregate to friendly guilds.

3. Friendly players can send direct messages to new players. The people who believe they're being drowned out by insults are people who feel the need to control or censor speech.

4. Any joke can be funny if you're the target audience.

5. BDO has balance, gameplay, and PVP issues; negative PR will never be an issue so long as they have trials and free-to-play periods.

6. The chat functions as the public square so freedom of expression and assembly is assumed.

7. There are 36+ non-Olvia servers. The solution is hop servers.

8. The moment PA issues regular warnings, restrictions, and bans outside of the community sentiment is when things get dicey. If they can afford to turn away existing loyal customers, it's perfectly sensible to me and for whichever promising game dev that challenges BDO.

You should take a moment to think about just how stupid their policies are.  You can buy gear from the cash shop and use it to mob feed a newer player ruining their game experience, but don't use bad language, that's harmful!!!!
