I've started playing BDO about six months ago and I truly love it. The graphics are awesome, the combat system just perfect and there are tons you can do - no pressure to do anything you don't like. It's really great!
But.. I really miss group content where you and your guild, can get together for an evening of fun. I don't like the PVP group stuff (node/siege wars), but I do like Vell and Guild bosses. There are just so sparse, and it takes about an hour or so and then you're done and everybody feels we should do more - because it was so much fun - but there is nothing more to do as a group ..and we split up again. As an active guild we like more content to do together! There must be something you guys can cook up for us in this wonderful game?
Let me start by giving some ideas and let others take over with bigger and better and more original content ideas
- Group/Party quests - like simultaneously doing several quests in one day/week
- Timed Quests (hide & seek, seek items, getting to x in time with % of platoon)
- Grinding x mobs from x locations in a weekly challenge with nice rewards for the guild
- Dungeon/Raid like content with temporary role assignment (like tank/heal/dps or scout/ambush/attract etc)
- Challenging Guild bosses (with more tactics to learn - requires communicating with other players for example)
- ... [reply with your awesome ideas] ...

I would recommend Pantheon to you as it's being designed with those aspects in mind. To bring back party roles and grouping. BDO's new areas have some of that, but in general it's not that type of a game. Nor is it really designed appropriately for group activities. It ends up being just a group of DPS mashing mobs.
its not a typical trifecta mmo, there is no tank, dps, or healer, nor dungeon of any sorts.
you can build to become a tank with any class, some are, however, more tankier/effective than others with the same build.
the group contents in this game are party grind places, the only group life skill activities are fishing and hunting (with a musket or out in the ocean killing Lekrashan)
bdo is more like a platform for socialize, chatting on discord and play other games while your character afk processing in town.
I like this subject. Mainly because I remember the days of Sausan's and Pirate's 5-person parties. It was awesome. Also, they plan on releasing a BDO-style dungeon this year, I believe.
In Sausan's / Pirate's back in the day (when those were the best spots), people would often actively search for groups in the grind zone itself. People would go up to a party already grinding and ask if they can join. Nowadays, people only group thorugh world chat, pretty much. Solo grinders were not gimped in these spots either. Solo grinding in Sausan's or Pirate's, as well as grouping in their main rotations, were equally viable. Though grouping was the best EXP per hour, solo was competitive with it EXP-wise and gave more silver. Either option was completely viable.
I remember going to Pirate's on my rinky-dink rowboat. When arriving, I would see a group of 5 players grinding main rotation. Circling the island to find an open side rotation, I'd see solo grinders. I remember one time my guild and I were grouped in Pirate's main and another group of 5 wanted to fight over it. It ended up turning into a massive GVG with multiple guilds involved. That guild has since died off (R.I.P. Troublemaker), but I remember it like it was yesterday, one of the most memorable moments in my entire time playing BDO.
I wish the game would introduce a grind zone similar to these, spots where the average GS could choose to either grind solo or group and not be gimped by either choice.

That was also some of the worst grinding content ever released.
95% of the time was running in a large circle hoping to make contact with mobs while a single player could instantly clear the entire rotation.

Sounds to me you're grinding an area too strong for your gear level. "Instantly clear the entire rotation". You heard it here folks, spending 2-5 minutes to clear a rotation is equal to "instantly clearing it". I was never overly geared, but could consistently find a rotation to grind, despite it being a heavily contested spot.
Pirates / Sausans days were some of the best grinding content to many people I've spoken to. While the zone itself was simple, the premise behind the zone's design of catering to both group and solo grinders is aomething not found today.
This just sounds like more complaints from someone who's made zero progress in BDO.
Currently the game does have some interesting group content (savage rift, AoB etc), but its just not really worth doing.
Mostly because its got shit rewards (less than your average afk fishing session, so ppl dont que up for it).
Also, main quest bosses have been changed into solo monsters so you can't really even party from the very beginning (unless you ignore main quest and go straight to grind, but then it's still alot slower than going solo).
There's a consistency in group content on high end spots however, with every new region released this has been the case for years.
I know it sucks having to go through all that shitty RNG and hours of grinding to even get close to the gear required, but it IS group content.
Honestly I don't think you can expect too much, this is a question that's been asked maybe a million times already over the past years ever since release and welp, look what we got...
Imo easiest fix would be to buff party plays so it comes close to what you'd get solo.
Then at least it would be worth considering partying up instead of being arseholes over a goddamn spot.
Maybe also buff (awakened & guild) scrolls so more players will start doing them...
Conclusion: Overall current party options need to be tweaked and more options are welcome.

No that's just your sheer ignorance of the games past and how it worked.
PEN equipment was already released in the Sausan/Pirate days. Anyone with roughly TRI or better could roll through those areas. TET would smash it. Especially broken classes like Ranger at the time.
Lets all take a moment to marvel over my expertise and accurate knowledge of the games history.
In the later stages just about anyone with any class could roll right through both areas. Remember that Valencia was a complete failure until it's revamp about 1 ENTIRE YEAR after it's release.
Damn <--- This Retteo knows everything.

I hate to break it to you, but BDO is pretty much a solo game with online interactions. You will mostly have to depend on close friends for grouping. Genuine group content is essentially non-existent.

Lol okay.
Same dude who referenced a 3 year old guide to support his argument, and the same dude who uses made-up examples to support a real claim. Now is saying TRI can "roll through" Pirate's, yet claims he can't kill a mob because others clear faster. Think about how ridiculous that makes you look, Vortexii.
Tbh, feel really sorry for anyone who takes you seriously. NoKap. You're sus AF.
