Each channel swap there are 2 loading screens, log out loading screen and on the new server log in loading screen. Magnus is hosted on Marni server.
When using the Magnus first you swap onto the Marni server and then back to your original server. That's why there are 4 loading screens.
And every time you have a chance to crash game.
I even appear on world bosses 5 minutes before spawn to have a "window to return" if the game decides that it will close.
I think they made it so they can teleport us to other part of the map for new region only..
Especially since they give up for sea content entirely
This.
It was first and foremost designed and implemented to reach Port Ratt and the continent of Haso once te new grindspot will be released there, because they know that no player will cross the entire ocean just for their daily grind (takes too much time, even with a Carrack), and that not a lot of players have decent boats or partake in sea content to begin with, since PA tehmselves abandoned it.
So it's a bandaid to work around dead content and features (sea content) that comes with some QoL, like the global storage management from any manager, which is quite useful.
Thats the result if game dev´s want that everybody is happy with new content/feature. Magnus fast Travel is a Compromise between this ppl, that want more Convenience and Effectiveness and this ppl, that want a seamless and immersiv open world. I am one of the second ppl and nonetheless i tell u PA, if u put fast Travel in the game, pls do it right. Magnus fast Travel just dont work well.

I am not happy with the fact that I would have to pay 30m for a trip to Port Ratt. So for me this psuedo fast travel system doesn't exist and the new continent of Haso content won't exist either.
Doing it like this, was not based to make a compromise, it is just the same like with almost every single feature they release, they hand it again to the overvalued "inconveniences" team of PA, who butcher features beyond any real useablity, many features that were very promising and giving respect to the time of their players, got utterly butchered, to not be that at all.
And they did this now for a long time, even for those features, that they don't include a P2W solution to make them "less inconvenient".
I think they need an overall change of game design. Seeing features being made inconvenient on purpose, leave a bad taste.
Those unskipable cutscenes need to be gone overall, but having them on repeated actions, that is very bad.
I have seen many quick travel features in online and offline games and I have never seen one which is so far from being usefull, as the one they came up with in BDO.
The silver price would be okay, but with those cutscenes and several loading times, it is just bad and a big joke to release as a feature and I have no clue, how this could pass any quality assurance team to be decent.
I don't really have a gripe on the design aspect of the magnus thing assuming it was done so as a means of "compromise" but I do have issues when you're playing russian roulette with CTD (crash-to-desktop). Every MMO has a fee for fast travel and it's intended as a silver sink (gold sink, whatever term you're familiar with). But, if they're going to use it as a "gold sink" then maybe it would be nice if the wells were designed differently. Maybe a UI that lets you hop-in or fast travel buttons. Some people don't have a fancy nvme drive and are stuck with god forbid platter or old school SSD so travel times are going to be even more punishing for them.
Game mechanics should always feel rewarding in some way even if it isn't, something about it should entice the player to use it. Otherwise, why have it at all?
I think its fine as it is. Just let people skip cutscene. Any further change to buff magnus tp and you will make horses obsolete.
Also would add that after entering Magnus the render distance screws itself.
