The tradeoff they have is 0 ranged engage. Most melee classes have some skills for ranged engage.
For example:
- Warrior has piercing spear
- Musa/maehwa have their bow
- Zerker has his cannon
- Valk has celestial spear
- Ninja has Shuriken malice
- Guardian has axe throw
- Nova has a ranged grab (which is buggy and hard to hit tho)
Having literally 0 ranged poke is a major disadventage against many other classes. You only have your burst mobility, but once you used that and didn't land a cc, you are stuck without movement for a few seconds.
I think many players underestimate the lack of ranged poke, especially in fights between highly skilled players.
Another tradeoff is the lack of FG. Yes, the gauntlet classes have a lot of superarmor and can pretty much perma rotate it, but considering we have a high dmg meta, the total lack of fg makes it harder to trade skills.
Mystic has Wave Orb at max shards, which has FG, 30% slow and Bound on hit.
Striker has Wolf's Fang, which has FG and Stun on hit.
Both ranged.
You don't play the game if you consider max shard Wave Orb a ranged ability or a useful FG. It is FG on charging. The charging can't be held forever and auto activates after a few seconds. It is also unprotected on attack unless you take the core, which no one does because it is asking to be CC'd to take it. You had better examples to use for FGs available to you if you played the game. The only ranged ability that Mystic has is the garbage new awakening skill she got with the rework called Raging Wind.

Looks like you never played Mystic. Wave Orb is NOT ranged. It is a small AOE in Melee Range, like most skills of most classes. Also, it has no FG. It has FG during chargeup. The chargeup however is cancelled 99.9% of the time thus resulting in a skill without protection.
Wave Orb is used as a damage skill later in combos and not as an opener or catch. If you try to use that vs any competent player, they will just counter-cc you instead.

Striker is literately one of the most mobile class in the game kek.
As for ranged poke, they don't do shit after you stop being a gearlet.
Fair points about wave orb. I don't even feel that Mystics are a problem compared to other classes so I won't be mentioning her again.
No doubt PA will read the thread and make sure striker, the Brawler who already has exceptional movement, crazy sustain and caster level AoEs, ALSO gets the long range protected projectile skill he's desperately lacking. He's not overperforming in enough areas for some people it seems.
Yeah PA listened to the playerfeedback, and buffed them even more :D
Really lacking class, of course today got more buffs, this balancing is insane
this is pure gold, i guess developers got google translate feedback and heard it needs buffs.
