Not to white knight here, but Smiley isn't toxic lol. A little smart-assy? Sure lol. Direct and to the point? Yep. But toxic? Hmmm, need to think. Aren't we all a little toxic sometimes? Sure lol, but the magnitude of such varries. Let me explain.
I've seen toxciity stem from many players on the forum, the most glaring of which are those comments who directly attack a person's character and mis-represent them, right off the bat. IE: Literally re-writing someone else's words in a reply to fit whatever convoluted agenda one has got going on. IE: Initiating a discussion with "You're biased, so you won't read it", or after you read and reply they will tell you, "Seems you didn't read my comment -- read it again" with the stench of arraogance. Uhhhh....I thought, in discussion settings, when you think someone missed something, isn't it expected to EXPLAIN WHAT YOU THINK WAS MISSED? Uhhh....ok? Just gonna say something and when replied to you're just gonna say "read it again" and leave the person out to dry? Fine, be that way. That's tilting, and quite toxic IMO. Discussions are back and forths. "Read it again" puts the brakes on discussions moving forward, or worse, puts it in reverse. Smiley always moves th discussion forward, never have I read a comment where he's like "You didn't read, so read it it again", he'll actually explain his position like an adult.
There is a particular pretty toxic, quite immature and very dramatic user here who will literally re-write your words when he replies. Who will post screenshots of comments and users he does not like without showing his OWN comments BEFORE the one he posted, replies in over-dramatic emotional outcries of victimhood, etc., all in an attempt to tarnish the name of fellow community members or gain the "aww poor baby's" or something, IDK that's just a guess (seems like it). I will not write this user's name, but I am sure we all know who this omega drama queen is.
I've interacted with Smiley ever since the old forum. He knows his stuff and will tell it like it is. He may be smart-assy, but "toxic"...? Far from. I find lies, over-exaggerations, outdated information, name-calling, defamation, and things of that sort toxic. @Altos - Yes, sorry, but you tried to defame him here. Here's the definition of 'Defamation' according to Google: "the action of damaging the good reputation of someone; slander or libel." You can correlate defamation to DIRECTLY EDITING A USER'S WORDS, CHANGING IT TO SUIT WHATEVER NARRATIVE YOU'RE PUSHING, or POSTING IRRELEVANT TO THE DISCUSSION SCREENSHOTS OF OTHER USER'S COMMENTS WITHOUT POSTING YOURS THAT INITIATED THE HEATED EXCHANGE IN THE FIRST PLACE.
We've all been triggered by someone else on the internet, and I'm sure we all have called people names and whatnot. Smiley is not toxic...a little of a blunt smart-ass, but we all have our moments. Tell it like it is. No sugar coating needed. He is just direct, to the point, and doesn't dance around subjects with emotional non-sense. Smiley has bounds of game-knowledge, and writes threads and comments that provide solid information about META's, and the game in general. From what I've seen, he's only "rude" to those who were rude to him first, or those that spout actual lies on the forum. Same with me, I'm "rude" to certain users here, which I can name, but I'm not stooping down to that level of defaming someone. They're show their true colors anyway. Smiley is a valued forum memeber, well, maybe for vets, or those that value tangible, verifiable fact. For the BDO doomsday shouters, maybe one of the doomsday "hewp meeee am juss smol, smol boi, wahhh me victim" or "geam BAD, BDO BAD, MMO BAD, hurr hurrrr BDO is home of massive whale, new player die! New player no no!" posters will suit better.
