I got a new update to Power Director and threw this video together to test out some of the new features. Also testing out different ways to use the cinematic features of the game so I can make better videos.
Well, having made my own BDO cinematic movie and original music (not published anywhere) I can certainly appreciate the creative efforts. It takes a long time to select and edit the snippets into something cohesive; especially when music is involved. Not sure if you're aware of the following but here are the camera controls:
- Disable UI: Ctrl + U
- Move Camera View: Arrow Keys
- Adjust Focus: Ctrl + Arrow Key Up, Ctrl + Arrow Key Down
- Adjust Field of View (FOV): Shift + Arrow Key Up, Shift + Arrow Key Down
- Tilt Camera: Shift + Arrow Key Left, Shift + Arrow Key Right
- Color Filters: Ctrl + Shift+ Arrow Key Up, Ctrl + Shift + Arrow Key Down
- Grain and Vignette: Ctrl + Shift + Arrow Key Left, Ctrl + Shift + Arrow Key Right
- Slow Motion: U (only in safe areas)
- Take A Screenshot: Prt Sc
The "Tilt Camera", "Color Features", "Grain and Vignette", "Slow Motion" are my favorites. Slow Motion only works in safe areas though. After hitting Cntrl+U to hide the UI, then hit 'U' to get approximately 5 seconds of slow motion. This works REALLY well upon zomming in on a character's face (or head an shoulders area) at some angle. It also works well when the character is gazing at the camera while you slowly pan in some direction around said character. When clipped the Slow Motion effect makes an awesome glance towards the camera, away from the camera, or following the camera.
My favorite thing to do is what I've labeled an "Intoductory Glance". This involves just positioning the camera and color selection on the character's face. Then, let the character go out of frame through the animations (yawning, laughing, waving etc). The split second when you know the animation is ending and the character is going to return to being back 'in frame' - hit U for slow motion as they look at the camera.
The hardest thing to do (for me at least) is to get a smooth (read cinematic) 'mouse drag' when panning the camera around the character.
Anyways; have fun experimenting!
Wowmaybe next time full movie? 🤪
Well done, I can't wait to see how your videos progress.
