He was around this event but instead of dropping gifts over towns at random, he would drop gifts on top of mobs you killed at random. While this was fun in its own way, I did miss jumping around town like a ninja competing with other players for the gifts.
I remember that. Velia was often the place to be, with alot of folks around. When you hear then those bells ringing you knew a present would be dropped. It was dropped on several places and you had to cross all over velia to grab one. Sometimes it dropped on a roof, sometimes also a bit outside Velia (towards finto farm) or near the arena. The presents were different each time. I got some decorations then.
I get the feeling that was more a thing that kakao did.
Grandpa Cron hasn't dropped gifts over the towns since PA took over. I'd guess it was a Kakao thing.
The towns also haven't been snowy since PA took over. I actually liked that, but some people complained about plummeting frame rates.
Well, weather is supposed to be a random hindrance, which shakes things up and keeps things interesting. I'm so glad we've had a month of snow now. I'm sure the Christmas music will be gone soon, but I hope we get at least another month of snow. And hopefully Grandpa Cron will make an appearance next year, and not just have some random presents spawn in. It's a nice, easy way to keep things festive, but WHY do we always have to do the least common denominator, cover-your-bases, easy way?
I didn't even realize there was random snow. I haven't seen any snow in Velia, but my wife just saw some in Heidel. Bad timing on my part, I guess. I kind of miss it being snowy during the entire Winter/Christmas event period.
I do like that it's still going. In the Kakao days, as soon as it hit Dec 26, all the Christmas stuff was over as though a switch was flipped.
I do hope they bring back Grandpa Cron next year. It was fun chasing him across the town and trying to beat others to the presents.
