you are asking for something that just wont happen, be more realistic and ask for more male classes and not to get rid of gender lock  :D

there are already classes similar concept and have 2 separated sex.

Obviously they are not same class but its stupid to make such things like male kuno or female striker, when the others exist at current state.

u r pretty much asking to remake the game. there are things they can do or they cant do

Please get rid of gender lock. At least for the classes where it wouldn't be detrimental to the lore or development of the characters. I can't stand playing a female character in this game. I don't like the "jiggle" mechanic. It isn't a selling point to me and it makes trying the female classes (also the only gender of classes that seem to be pursued) feel like it's supposed to be a soft core pornography role-playing simulator. Not why I'm playing video games bro. There are other sites for that. Gender lock is lame and shuts off 75% of the game for me. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

With the litany of issues this game has, to think they should waste time doing this is baffling to me. You baffle me.

in the first years maybe there was a chance to have both male and females classes or maybe even remove the gender lock, but now after so many years... no chance! the game will die in few years and they need to milk it as much as possible.

I've been asking for a male dark elf/knght or vampire class for many years!!! a lot of people wanted male sorc or archer, only archer won the lottery...

They even came up with such a trash lore, that they cannot even fix it cause that's how bad it is! also a pathetic excuse why they cannot release some male classes! bla bla

It should be the same number and on par both female and male classes! I'm sick of all the stupid excuses!!

When you release so many female classes in the last years, wth all elves are female and dark elves too, it is clear somebody has some mental issues!!!

To many perverts and too much money hunger combined with the lack of passion for gaming industry.

If we take away sex appeal = profit, Korean MMORPG "culture" (if you will) and lore, gender locking would be a detriment to PvP.  I know you stated what "you" want, but have you ever thought of how it would affect others?  You know, others who aren't in your echo chamber?  Let me explain how removing gender lock would greatly negatively impact PvP -- it seems inocuous to you, since you're clearly new and very uneducated on the game, but take it from someone who's been PvE'ing and PvP'ing here since 2016.

PvP here is fast.

Faster than any other MMO I've ever come across.  Classes zip, dash, fly, and gap close like no tomorrow and being able to quickly recognize classes on the battlefield is critical in effectively PvP'ing.  Each class' kit being unique enough that the need for well-versed matchup-knowledge plays a huge role in successful PvP.  Let's save class imbalance, the powercreep, gear, FPS = DPS, and scaling of AP for another discussion --> just bare-bones and straight up, PvP skill includes the need for solid matchup-knowledge (how other classes work) in order to succeed.

With how fast BDO's PvP is, you need to recognize what class(es) you're dealing with in a fraction of a millisecond and compute your ways of fighting them within that millisecond -- this computation in your brain needs to be natural and second nature -- and given how fast these classes are PLUS how many people you may need to gauge at one time (in group PvP and 1vX situations), the recognizability of each class plays a HUGE role in this big aspect of the game.  You need to identify classes in a literal instant, in many scenarios. And, at times, there may be dozens of people in the vicinity at one time.

Many classes move and can appear near-idential in your perifery, but have very different kits that make each class unique to fight against.  Musa and Maewha (one of the fastest point A to point B classes) dashing at you look literally identical, but each have their own unique kits and you do not fight a Musa like you do a Maewha.  They each have their own animations, protected abilities, and catches.  Same with Ninja and Kunoichi.  They may share some same catches, but overall, they perform differently.

In BDO, recognizing character models and even things like the costume they're wearing and the sound of their voices lend to quickly assessing what classes are on the battlefield.  When PvP'ing (one of BDO's biggest aspects), identifying classes in a millisecond is critical for PvP success, in both your performance and the feeling of smoothness and naturalness when playing this content with others.

Classes in BDO have identity.

Unlike other MMO's where classes in PvP are identifyed purely on kit, and kit alone, BDO is more -- classes are also identified by aesthetic.  IMO, other MMO's can function fine without character model aesthetics because they're much slower, giving you enough time to recognize classes based on abilities, but in BDO, combat is too fast for this to be okay.  In PvP, you need to recognize what class is coming at you, is in your face, approaching you, or what class you're engaging on within milliseconds because each class is fought differently enough that matchup-knowledge plays a huge role in quickly identifying classes to be important.  Not to mention how fast BDO PvP can be.  Altering gender will affect this on a detrimental scale, making PvP worse.

For any experienced PvP'er, just imagine a non-Kunoichi Ninja, a female class with Ninja kit -- how would you deal with this?  It would take impactfully longer to assess the class, and if that opponent recognizes your class before you do, this gives them a huge advantage without the need for any skill or gear.  How about a non-Maewha Musa?  Removing gender lock would break PvP even more by dismantling the ability for players to quickly assess matchups to a great degree, which happens to be a key ingredient for successful and enjoyable PvP, from a very base standpoint.  Functionally speaking, it will worsen the experience more than benefit IMO.  We have class counterparts -- almost all classes having a gender counterpart.  While the kits and META-viability may vary, it is necessary in this game, for reasons.  Want to play as a male?  Roll the male counterpart.  But you like the female counterpart's kit better than the male's?  Then cry, I guess, because BDO wouldn't (and shouldn't) change this part of the game (gender lock) for many reasons.  Biggest reason, to me, is it makes identifying classes a net-negative on PvP, on top of all the other negatives already in existence.

Im sorry but your whole dialogue sounds very lame and is nothing but a weak excuse.
When u were new to the game u had to learn how to recognize every single class in the game and do it again when new classes are released.  Adding a male counter part or a male version ( if gender lock is removed) will not be that big of an efford as u should still be able to recognize the class by "sound, animations and skills" as you stated.

What u are actually stating here is that people who prefer  to play as male ( whether a counter part of actual male version of let say sorc) cant have it cause then "you" have to put in a tiny bit of effort to make split second recognition in pvp.

Saying stuff like : well just play the male counter part.
Bro i would love to if it werent for the fact that currently 8 female classes lack a counter part to play with.

This thread is not about adding more male classes.  This one is about removing gender lock.

You admitted that reading is hard for you, so hopefully this helps you out.

The main arguments against removing gender lock stated here are:

1)  Game lore reasons.

2)  Developer intention (with an included developer quote).

3)  Difficulty / financial burden / time burden associated with removing gender lock (resources that could be used in other areas).

4)  Developers decided to make "class counterparts" instead of gender reskins.

5)  The negative effect removing gender lock would have in PvP.

6)  Gender locking in Asian MMO's aren't something new.

7)  And yes, sex sells (also not something new to marketing in general).

If the only thing you can think of is "mUh BoObA LuVeRs" you're missing the point, lacking in concrete objectivity, and is actually you doing the attacking here.  And avoiding any sort of discussion to insert this illsighted take on the realities surrounding this issue speaks volumes about it.

Facts > Your feelings, bruh.  Get wrecked by logic.

1 Lore means nothing to PA and they rewrite it as often as they have to. making a few adjustments to add in a male option for a class wouldnt be a tough issue for them.  PA literally rewrote the entire Valencian lore and even removed parts of it, so they could then fit the old lore into sage his awakening story.  so no lore is far from being an excuse not to create male version, if they so wish to do.

2 An intetention stated back in 2016, seeing as that the game has changed much in the next 7.5 years that comment doesnt really hold that much value anymore.

3 Making a male version or making a new class take up roughly the same amount of time and resources, so here it comes down to whatever choice PA makes on who or what the new class is going to be and not a financial burden.

4 Except they stopped doing that about 2.5 years ago a now we have :
- shai
- Nova
- Tamer
- Maegu
-Woosa
-Scholar
- Corsair
- Sorc ( debatable as some ppl pair he with hash)
All without counterparts. so if we are going by things  PA have said in the past then they have quite some catching up to do in the male class department

5 There is no negative effect other than ppl being to lazy to want to relearn how to recognize a class by appreance whereas u should already recognize them by their kit and weapons

6 Not all asian MMO do so and Aion is a good example of it.  And thats coming from NCsoft.

7 Seeing as that is 2024 and game devs still cant figure out other ways to make money is the saddest part of it all.

Lol! Are you guys for real, pushing "lore" as a reason lol. Who cares about that in this game. I play it for 6 years and I have no clue whats going on. They are not going to remove it since its too much work. They would havs to completely redo char creation and make all models compatibile with all classes. Thats a lot of work since there are a lot of classes.

The workaround genderlock they did was good. Adding a counter male/female version with most of the classes but they seem to have abandoned that idea.
