What is end game like?

The game is what you make it.
If you are into PVP and want to be some hardcore elite player..... best of luck, you will need the right class and the exact combo of gear to make that class valid.... and even then you are going to get smooshed by veteran players who just know the game better then you do.
Gearing in this game is a longterm grind that will require days if not months of your time to build it yourself.... or you mindlessly grind silver forever and just but it from the market if it is even available.
I hit full TET Blackstar and DUO Godyr weapons and pretty much said that is good enough for me, I don't care about being in the best gear for endgame of any nature in this game since endgame is sorta a myth.
If you are PVP, you will have bursts of playtime with your node wars..... the rest of the time you will be bored out of your mind looking for somthing to do....
If you are PVE, the entire game revolves around "The Endless Grind" to slowly collect enough materials for whatever project you decide to work ok..... everything will take you weeks if not months to grind simply because RNG controlls just about everything in BDO.
That is the honest breakdown of BDO, the game is what you make it..... best advice I can give you if you want to enjoy this game is just set small goals for yourself and try to hit them, otherwise everything feels like a monumentous chore to hit.

End game is what you want it to be. Black Desert is not a traditional theme park MMO, but instead more sandbox with traditional elements in it. There are a variety of things you can do!
-Grinding
-PvP
-Atoraxxion (dungeons)
-Lifeskilling
-Roleplaying
-Guild Activities
-Questing
There are a variety of activities that have been added over the years and MANY quality of life changes. End game gear is now Fallen God chest piece and Labreska helmet, with either PEN Blackstar or Caphras level 20 Boss Gear.
If you are not familiar with Blackstar its pretty much BiS for PvE, but in PvP is similar in power. There has been a lot of lore added too, since the game first released. I didn't start playing, until 2018, but the game has improved drastically ever since. Take your time and welcome back!

I played this game when it first came out, can hardly remember anything. Have no idea what the new company has changed, haven't kept up on the info.
Does this game have your typical MMO end game where you find a guild and work on progressing thru content together?
Also I seem to recall once you got certain level of gear, it just became a tedious repetition of getting the same types of items to deconstruct or meld or whatever the BDO term for it was, I can't recall. Is that still what end game gearing is like?
New company? Developer is still the same, that's Pearl Abyss, and that's from the start the case. Only the publisher changed, as it shifted from kakao (formerly daum) to self publishing by the developer.
As for endgame, there is no real endgame. It's a bit like the movie groundhog day, where you actually do the same over and over. Some do as endgame afk fishing.
