I've non stop seen ppl pooping on how bad ranger is but idk why?

ive played BDO off and on so i dont understand fully how the game works at higher gear levels.

but when i see ppl doing pve trash loot comparisons ranger doesnt seem to be TOO far behind the rest of the classes and even then the number difference between the HIGHEST and LOWEST classes in trash loot per hour its liek 1000 ish difference out of 4k-6k

So how bad of a state is ranger TRULY in?

I have also seen fairly high ap rangers top fragging in nws and seiges too are they gettign the numbers that witches and wizards get ? no and yes sometimes yes sometimes no.

so if ranger is capable of doing goodish/okish in pvp and pve at least from my perspective, what makes ranger not worth playing?

is it worth palying?

Ranger is really bad in every case. from a pvp standpoint.

she is slow and unprotected.

she only does damage with knockdowns and knockdown damage does not exist in the meta anymore.

even zerk is a better range class.

zero capabilitys of trading damage.

compared to other classes she is outdated and needs way too much mastery for practical every matchup.

pve is something i would care if there is pve content.

Well I can only comment from my limited experience with the Ranger, I tried both the Awakening and Succession to see the difference but if I compare the Ranger to another classes I do get the notion the Ranger feels a LOT less powerfull. It seems to lack the big hitting abilities that other classes have, often the shots don't register correctly either no matter of the distance to the mob. I also get the weird notion that despite the Ranger using a bow as her normal/succession weapon that the range on it is fairly low compared to my Witch' her attacks.

The Awakening weapon feels... completely off. Succession kinda works and adds to the formula but I don't get the feeling that the Awakening weapon does anything for the class. It feels a lot weaker than the bow also and it doesn't give you the notion that the Awakening skills offset weaknesses on your bow attacks.

Again I don't have an extensive knowledge base on the Ranger I've played her on and off the past couple of months but to me it feels like the class needs a severe buff.

Awakening is a good duelist and the only way ranger can really kill anyone in small scale, succession doesn't win in 1v1s so much as your opponent loses sometimes if they play awfully and get unlucky. At least at reasonable gear levels anyway.

As for pve, the problem as I see it is succession doesn't bring that much to the table. You pour everything you have into your bow for it to just feel... adequate. It's all about having prime descending current really. If you look at what it adds to other abilities it's not really anything you couldn't live without pretty easily. A few hundred percent extra on your main bow abilities, prime blasting gust is nerfed, prime explosive evasive shot is a sidegrade, able to deal decent damage but fewer iframes when that's what you really need it for.  Having to choose between being able to evade more or have your prime ability feels pretty bad.

That said I still play succession because idgaf and I wanted to bow class not a short range melee. Playing awakening ranger gives me the urge to play litterally any other melee class instead, but some people love it idk. I just got my first wizard to 56 and my jaw dropped at how powerful it is and how complete it's kit is right at 56 compared to playing ranger/darkknight.

In summary my opinion is that Ranger falls in a really awkward spot for what myself and many others want from the class, and prime abilities should be upgrades not sidegrades/downgrades over absolutes. 

The reason ranger is "bad" is because it has a high gear and skill floor for pvp. Classes like striker can kill people with 230 AP and just dump on DP accs and be somewhat competitive, classes like witchards are so braindead easy they don't even have to aim their skills.

Succ ranger is even worse in regards to gear floor. It's so bad in melee you need to rely on killing people through their protections before they get to you. While it's skill floor is lower, it also just has a rather linear kit.

With enough gear and skill ranger can be good, but other classes can do just as well with less skill and gear.

Rangers not a bad class she just requires a lot of gear and a lot of skill to do well with.

She is a tank destroyer        any ammount of evasion when you have the gear is melted by us.  ( This is why shes a twig)

She has the best range pick off combo in the game provided everything lands.

Awakening:

Is an extremly high skill class that if played right is very strong but all of these hard hitting sword skills are all or nothing. you are held in place when you attack and it can be rewarding and also kill you all the time.

Because shes a twig in the backline we are easy pickings for all classes that even sneeze near us which can feel very bad at times. DP really scales poorly on us so do not bother building it more then you should. Swords offers more protection then just having a bow but if you mess up you die regaurdless.

Succession:

This is just a straight up gear check class. If you have high gear you will do extremely well on this class. 

In my opinion if you can run awakening decently run it until you have higher gear and then swap to succession to just  snipe any DP targets to death.

problem is with both forms of ranger is her only protection is range her mobility is limitted and this makes us an easy target. However would I change her? 

No because unlike witchards that are currently dominating the game us being squishy justifies are damage output. I would say this class is extremely balanced in both forms. And  we need more classes to be balanced in the way they are cough cough witchards cough...

Now you may notice Im now playing mystic and this is for 3 reasons 

1. I wanted to  play in melee range a bit more

2. I like the kit

3. It counters the extreme witchard meta at least a little bit.

If your asking if ranger is a bad class my answer is no shes perfect the way she is PVE could use slight buffs though because shes average in both forms at best.

If you haven't already, I would checkout some ranger montages for both awakening and succession then form an opinion from what you see. I personally have been playing the class since western release so for close to 5 years now and I still love the class. There's moments of course where I envy other classes but I'm still here for a reason. 

The best tip to get a view on a class is to watch somone play or to watch montages. Here are some suggestions. 

Succ ranger: 

Streams: "rilok_ii" on twitch or his montage (Here). Jay has some good montages and Nodewars on his youtube (here). 

Succ Ranger is simply about having gear (damage) and positioning. Its a sniper class and can delete somone from 80% hp to zero. However you will be troubled by wizards, sages, hashashins, ninjas. kuno teleporting, If you have other people to protect you it will be alot better though. 

Awakening Ranger: 

Timebomb (here) or Flannels (here) It can be strong in 1v1, however due to its squishiness it gets punished alot by resistances. Flowing protections is somewhat easy, but SA's are kind of a joke nowadays, because of AP scaling and Ranger having low Defenses. It's somewhat easy to pick up, but you have a higher skill ceiling and need for precision, due to the punishment for mistakes. 

Personally I would go succession ranger and just stack AP until you can delete people without caring about resistance. 

As with most classes tankiness is mostly about gear.Shoju is a Very high geared ranger who when hes in rbf generally has most points at the end outperforming even most succ wizards any time he plays.At 295 ap I ulted him in the back with cataclysm the other day and only took 1/4 of his health,he then proceeded to 2 shot me in a second with me at 392 dp.

next time let your dog play the game. so you ez win with that gear, wizard
