If you must know, my grandma fled the Soviet Union as a child when Lenin took over and had to flee again later when the Soviets invaded our country.

I know it's hard to comprehend reality when your greatest hardship in life is someone being mean on twitter.

Hello. Just a statement from someone who started ~35 days ago :) I like the game and I played ~12hours a day on the Season Servers, full PEN Tuv. and lvl 62 with 24%xp. Thanks for this experience - it was a blast!

It was really nice to go normal Season Server PvE and do what I wanted and then - from time to time - switch to the Season Arsha PvP Server, where it was very balanced (because only Tuvala Gear - capped).

I cant imagine playing the game on normal Servers, where there is PvP everywhere and anytime and people probably 1-shotting you with their 5 year gear investment.

So - your decision is to stop Season Servers and my decision is so quit then. I wish you all the best with this game - it was fun 30 days and thanks! One day, when you do Seasons again (maybe do it like a Diablo 3?) I will come back and enjoy the PvP again. Cheers!

Well this is heartbreaking. I really enjoyed playing on the season server! It was the best experience I have had in BDO since the days when +15 was the max enhancement level.

I feel like not continuing with the season servers is a big mistake.

PVE servers plase, so people flock over there and i can grind in peace on normal servers thank you.

Also , season was pretty good as a catch up mechanic i wonder if that will have a negative impact on the playerbase

Oh...I thought it was just speculation but removing Seasons? I did my first Winter Season character (also my first experience in BDO despite being having bought the game since Founder; just never really got into it) and had great fun despite getting into it late.

Also planned out which classes are going Season and which normal.  Was really looking forward to Spring. =(

Horrible decision!

Was the only real PvE servers.

I guess that they force me to leave to another game then.

Have fun.

So, I enjoyed the seasons so far, but I see why they want to rethink them.

For people who already have one of each class, unless there is a new class when season starts, why would you do it?

The first season (with no new class), I made a second sorc, because I wanted one Awakening sorc and one Succession sorc.  But then they introduced the skill presets and that became moot.

For the second and third seasons, they had a new class.  They could have made Sage the "season" character, but are they really going to churn out 4 classes a year?

In Diablo III, when you start a season, you can "rebirth" a character and set them to level 1 with no gear and start fresh, but at the end of the season, all the XP you earned on that character is added to your overall account progress.

Something like that may or may not work here, with the way the seasons are currently set up.

But keeping them as they were would just diminish interest in doing them very quickly.

Copied from another thread because this one has views::

Firstly BDO is not the typical Korean or Chinese MMO Game. While the average shelf life is 2-3 years, this game has survived 5 years and looks to continue going.  So from that regard, I think those smart guys with MBA's at Pearl Abyss should be looking at a ton of data to inform the decisions.  Thing is I do not see any Polls or Surveys to the players.  I really am curious how they determine the players feedback aside from looking through forum posts and also Discord.  That bieng said they do for sure have financial data, and player usage data (for example class A played x hours B y hours etc etc) to comb through, more than likely they use this to make assumptions.

Being a player who has come and gone a couple times since BDO launch I can say without a doubt that seasons revived a dying playerbase for Black Desert Online. It even got me back into the game after blowing up all my gear for Pen attempts and a rage quit back in 2018 lol. The idea that we can play in a pvp free environment was the main attraction of seasons for me,. Number 2 was the fact i can make Tuvala Pen gear and it gave me a reason to actually spend the time to make an alt for each world boss. That said i did pay for the season passes, WT, a costume and tailoring coupon for each character (i love movement speed +2). While by no means whale, I may spend a couple hundred bucks every few months, thats about it.. I am pretty sure that many people spent at least 100 bucks playing through an entire season.

If they have 1000 whales spending 1000 per month (1 Million Revenue) and 10000 normal players spending about 100-200 bucks from new characters on seasons its generating the same income.. still the normal players are generating a ton of revenue.  Its very interesting to try and understand why they have made these decisions.  I do not think its purely financial.

Also I have the impression that PA is sort of in a conundrum trying to balance the happiness of old players and new players.  Its very difficult to achieve.  Making old timers spend years to get gear just for a new player to have easier time to have starter gear may be a punch in the gut to those older players,.. at the same time the newer players more than likely came over from other mainstream MMOs like WoW, FF14, or Mobas like Dota or League.. None of these games have the grind factor of BDO.

This issue makes it very hard to balance the old vs. new.  I imagine they want to keep a certain percentage of new players, but realized its not possible while keeping the old players happy.  Even if you could convert a Tuvala Pen Set to a complete Boss Gear set, still need to tap a pen, and cant sell it.. So new players still need to grind.

Its interesting to me that a grinder mmo picked up so many players that I would consider "new school" aka playing other games that do not require the same amount of time to progress as BDO.  Maybe the mgmt at PA had a plan that included a retention rate?? maybe they are thinking if they can retain 10% of the new players they achieve some internal goal or metric..? Who knows besides the management at PA anyways...

That bieng said. for me personally some days I dont wanna deal with PVP.  Some days I just want to mind my own business without getting into fights and losing lots of karma lol.    those days i played my seasons character.. Now that hassle free no pvp haven is gone.

I dont care if its not gone forever. the fact is that the main reason I personally came back to the game is no longer available to me.

Whatever the developers are planning chances are some of it will take our opinions into consideration while most of it will not.

That bieng said PA better make PVE servers. Whether that ends up season servers, or some new servers its up to them to decide.. but there are alot of players who are about to just pick up another game or go back to an old one because of this factor.

Some people say "well thats PA, thats the game, its pvp game, deal with it or quit" you know what i think you guys will be surprised how many people actually did what you said. You can see even now that the "crowded" server status is not common this week. Already there are alot of people not logging in. It will be interesting to see what the activity looks like this weekend..

That is the inherent problem with all cash-shop model games, it's what the old MMOs players, like me, that played games back when every game was sub-based told people would happen, but no one listened.

Every single non-sub game is the same, you end up paying 2-3 times more if you want to actually enjoy the game than a sub would cost. Well, you all wanted this, now stfu and eat your shit-sandwich while enjoying your "free game".

I would only slightly agree.  The problem is when it's not your primary game, the game goes into maintainence mode, the updates become very poor, or a host of other problems.

When those conditions arise you are still obligated to keep paying regardless.  In fact no amount of money will ever be enough you will be paying indefinitely for access.  You will also need to PAY to reactivate an account if you just want to see an update or try the game again.

It really ONLY works when you are heavily into the game.

better model is PATH OF EXILE.  I can freely check out the game whenever I feel like it and not be burdened with completely P2W nonsense ruining the game.  And I get to trigger all the "storage space" people that will say things like "it's a company they need money", but then complain about the least P2W games on the market.
