Oni

This class should represent a male counterpart for DK since we can't have male DKs, or maybe a male counterpart for a Sorc or Tamer. But DK seems more fitting.

Origin: Port Ratt region

Race: Human/Rhutum/Giant

Gender: Male (We don't have any male pure dark theme/energy wielding class, I'm begging you for one)

Main weapon: Ndachi/Odachi a Two-Handed Katana

Sub-weapon: Trinket attached to the katana / Talisman in form of an oni/kitsune mask, laying on his waist similar to Corsair's Mareca or across his shoulders like Sorc's Talisman. Could make it even a different kind of weapon type called Oni, a mask that floats around him.

Awakening weapon: Kanabo a Two-Handed Spiked Club

Theme/Ability Colors: Black/White, Dark/Misty vibe with purple/white sakura petals that revolve around souls/spirits for his main and sub-weapon while having dark/green/white effects for his awakening. Ash foresty so to speak, maybe some inspiration from Wuju in Shadow Arena.

Class Description

Succession

An exiled villager that lives in the dense, lush, rainy forests of the far east, was thrown out of his own village for tempering with the lost souls, entering their realm and coming back, bringing bad luck to their village. Close to mid-range combat. Wielding his corrupted Odachi to move in and out of realms inflicting deep wounds on his enemies with close dark misty slicings that have great area of effects, while using his Oni to summon spirits that torment the enemy from afar dealing damage and adding negative effects on his targets.

Awakening

Wandering the lush forests of Port Ratt alone for so long he started hearing whispers in his ear, calling out to him. He followed those whispers leading him to an abandoned temple riddled in different trinkets, symbols, and candles around a big weapon that were still burning, there was the Kanabo lying and waiting for the Oni to hear the lost spirits screams. Taking up the true form of the Oni, his soul is chain linked to his Kanabo. Wielding it to inflict heavy damage and strike fear into his enemies, whispering as if his enemies are hearing spirits but rather seeing full-fledged spirits surrounding them.

Abilities/Gameplay (short description)

Succession

Move-in and out of the spirit realm to confuse your enemies, slicing them and their allies from any direction while opening doors for the tormented souls to enter the world of the living causing fear and destruction on the battlefield.

Awakening

Gather spirit energy to inflict devastating blows on your enemies and unleash the spirits full potential for massive area of effect damage, distorting the space between the spirit realm and the world of the living.

Apart from aesthetics, I'm looking at this topic from a stance of "gameplay mechanics".  A class' "feel", their "role", what "they bring to the table", and what "strategical aspects" said class brings to group PvP.

Recently been daydreaming about that "Goblin" class discussed here and it's making me wish it come to (virtual) life!  Thinking it could fulfill the role of a "strategist" on the battle field, who, may not be particularly suited for face-to-face combat, specializes in setting up traps, tricks, and windows of opportunity for teammates, while bewildering opponents.

Goblin

This would be our first "Demihuman" class.  Every class currently available are human, or, very, very similar to humans in terms of appearance.

Origin:  Balenos

Race: Goblin

Gender: Male (Are there female goblins in BDO? Can't recall seeing one)

Main weapon:  Steel Buster (variant of Berzerker's Iron Buster)

Sub-weapon:  Satchel (his bag of tricks)

Awakening weapon:  Transformation Scroll (not the Halloween one *wink*)

Class Description

The Goblin class specializes in thinking ahead and outsmarting their opponents.  As opposed to the current roster of classes who are highly versed in Combat Arts, Goblins, in their frail stature, have to use other means to win in the heat of battle.  They do not have large muscles, nor quick, nimble, graceful, and agile movements - what they do have, are wits, a clever way of thinking (to get out of sticky situations), and a knack for planning ahead and leading enemies to their demise.  It's the Goblin way!

We are not weak, frail, uneducated bufoons, as many Velian Humans would assume.  Using us as cattle!  We are a forgotten race, brushed aside as insignificant, relegated to hard, manual labor.  Receiving little in the way of education, but much in the way of discrimination.  Little do these boastful and ignorant humans know, Goblins have a deep-seeded history that stretches to the beginning of time, once a race of scientists, astronomers (Zigmund says hi), politicians, and royalty in this land.  The Goblin class seeks to unearth the secrets and forgotten history of his race and bring to light the many important, history changing, and revolutionary feats this currently-looked-down-upon race once achieved.  Who do you think discovered the first Ancient Relic?  Edan?  HA!  Think again!

Core Abilities

Steel Buster

Basic Attack - Automatically activates the "Dazed" debuff, on a 5 second cooldown.  AoE ranged blasts from his mainhand weapon.

Dazed - Enemies hit by the Goblin basic attack when off cooldown receive a "Dazed" staus effect.  Dazed opponents are more easily bended by the will of Goblin's Traps and has certain effects with his other abilities.  Dazed status lasts for 5 seconds.

Shunting Shot - Pushes enemies away from Goblin.  If the enemy is Dazed, they are pushed towards the direction of the nearest "Trap".

Stunning Shot - Single target stun.  Stun is converted to a ranged Grab on Dazed opponents.  This is so Goblin is able to CC classes who are carelessly using SA rotations.

Roll - Goblin iframe.  7 second cooldown.  Rolling animation.

Sneaky Sneaky - Goblin activates Stealth.  Stealth is disabled when hit by an enemy ability, when using Steel Buster abilities, or after a duration of 30 seconds.  Goblin cannot use movement abilities while stealthed, like his single, 7 second, iframe, for example, but he can set Traps.

Satchel

Traps - Goblin can lay down up to 3 "traps", successive traps placed beyond the 3 limit will deactivate the oldest trap placed.  Most Traps have a timer of 30 seconds before they automatically disarm.

--- Stun Trap = Goblin throws out a Stun Trap at a desired location.  Enemies hit by, or who walk over, the Stun Trap are stunned for 3 seconds and receive Pain Damage every 2 seconds over a duration of 10 seconds.  The throwing animation has a Frontal Guard.  Dazed enemies receive a burst of damage when stepping on nthe Trap.

--- Land Mines = These cannot be thrown from range, instead, must be strategically placed.  Goblin places the Land Mine at desired location.  Enemies who walk over the Land Mine receive a large burst of damage and are slowed by 30% for 5 seconds upon impact.  Dazed enemies receive more damage.

--- Bubbling Earth (100%) = Goblin launches an elixer from his satchel from range.  Upon contact with enemies or the ground, the elixer floods an area of effect that slows enemies, and procs Damage Over Time to foes inside the AoE.  Good ability for map control / positioning manipulation.  Dazed enemies receive debuffs along with the slow and DoT, like reduced accuracy, and reduced DR and Evasion.

The gameplay element here is strategically placing Traps while simultaneously Dazing opponents to ensure the maximum benefit of your Traps and other abilities.

Transformation Scroll

Goblin's Legacy - Upon swapping to Awakening Weapon, Goblin shape shifts and receives +HP, +HP Regen, and HP Recover on hit.

Goblin Rampage - Basic attack.  5 second cooldown.  HP regen on hit.  Basic attacks are low range and slow.  Off cooldown, Awakened Goblin's basic attack causes Knockdown on hit.  While on cooldown, basic attacks slow enemies by 10%.

Rush Down - Charge forward with the might of 20 Giants and speed of a Ferrica.  Super Armor + Frontal Guard.  Guard break on hit (opponents who are sitting in block 24/7 [hi Guardians] need to be aware here and can't just sit and wait to press E)

Resiliance - Goblin activates a shield for 3 seconds.  While shielded, Goblin receives 80% reduced damage and is immune to all status effects, including slows.

Grab - Awakening has a grab.

Succession

Goblin specializes in indirect combat.  The Goblin, in Succession form, has heightened pre-awakening abilities.  Stun traps are in larger AoE and a single trap can stun up to 5 enemies.  He is able to lay down more traps vs the pre-awakening / awakening counterpart, instead of a limit of 3 Traps placed, Succession Goblin can place up to 5 Traps.  The Succession Goblin is, basically, a pre-awakening Goblin on steroids, keeping in tact the ability to CC from range and lay down Traps, while doing generally low DPS in PvP (aside from a few damage Traps / abilities).

Awakening

The Transformation Scroll

The ancient Goblin art of Transformation was lost long ago during an ancient war between Humans and Goblins.  In Human history books, tales are written of huge, towering Goblins, of supreme stature, completely opposite of the frail, and seemingly weak appearance of their "normal" counterparts.  One would mistaken them for Giants, if it were not for their green hue.  Who were these humungous Goblins?  Were they an ancient species of Goblin, lost long ago?  No.  These were normal Goblins of stature, but trained in the mythical and magical Goblin art form called "Transformation".

The Transformation Scroll allows Goblin to change his shape and appearance (and combat ability).  When the Awakening Weapon is weilded, Goblin shape-shifts into a Berzerker-height monstrosity with added HP, HP Regeneration, and HP Recovery on hit.  The Awakening skill tree doesn't have many abilities, but the abilities that are offered are both useful and impactful.  While in this form, Goblin still does relatively low damage in PvP with his basic attacks, and he is not able to cast spells or lay down Traps.  Instead, basic attacks will CC, and almost every ability is Awakening stance is protected by Super Armor.  This is another element of strategy Goblin can bring -- a true "Tank", in BDO terms (low damage, high survivability and CC).

Awakened Goblins weilding the Transformation scroll increase in size, speed, and strength.  They are used for CC, with large AoE CC's.  Many abilities are Super Armor.  The caveat of being Transformed, is that you cannot cast spells or lay Traps in this form, and when you mistime something and get CC'd, you return to your normal (very squishy) Goblin form, so knowledge of SA rotations and how to execute it right plays a big role here in order to stay in this form, if strategy calls for it.

Abilities/Gameplay (short description)

Succession

Think ahead, lay down traps, sneak around the battlefield with an opportunistic outlook.  See what the enemy will do before they realize it, stay one step ahead of them to acheive victory.  Keep 'em Dazed!

Awakening

Combine the forces of strategical thinking with brute force, deciding which course to take in the heat of battle.  With the gameplay of thinking ahead and making split second decisions, or bombarding forward with unstoppable force, simultaneously, making the right decision at the right time.

We don't need more classes. Even the current ones are more than needed.

Sentiments shared.

But if they were to add a new class.... Necromancer.

Just the first few pages, the topic abruptly changed from "suggestions for the next class" to "reasons for not having a new class".  Raewulf went to a lot of detailed information on this topic and I will start by addressing the "off topic" pros and cons of any new class Pearl Abyss chooses to add.

The reason to add a new class, benefits PA and all users in many areas.  New class content is available to all users and not just end game users.  PA can produce class content with less time and labor consumed, a basic 3D model is produced with new animations, game mechanics, and another awakening story.  PA then can sell more accessories to users who desire to buy them.

The reason not to add a new class, frees up production resources for other content to be produced. However new map content (I welcome more to explore) normally will not benefit PA financially in the pearl shop.  To my understanding the new area content (aka end game dungeons) were looked upon as a minor disaster.  Few players enjoyed the content.  Was there anything in there you needed to buy items in the pearl shop to complete the dungeons?  If not, then PA probably see this as a loss, they won't be eager to make more maps right away. Eventually, someday in the future, I might end up running those dungeons.  But that day, is not today.

This topic is about what you would expect as the next class, PA is going to make more classes, reguardless of what anyone else says or does.  Back on topic,  if they plan to make a gender flip cloned class; both the shai and sorceress could use a male version, at this point female characters seem to dominate the Black Desert.

If they go 100% unique and not just another cookie cutter Kung-Fu fighter. From the teaser image posted, the best I could hope for at this point would be a Necromancer.  I would like to see someone who has a natural buff versus the undead.  A character that can either turn, control, or summon a limited amount of undead creatures based on their skill level and resources.  The necromancer could share the same awakening weapon as the sorceress, this would save PA some money in that department.  I would say the primary and secondary weapons would be the wiard but swapped.  A blood dagger would be the main and the staff or artifact the secondary.  It would also be nice to have the male gender and not something to sell more female underwear to the boiz.  LoL

It seems the new class teased last year will use a rod or stick.

I was thinking...we have a lot of Demi-humans in the world of BDO. Goblins, Imps, Trolls, Deer People, Fadus, Rhutum, Orcs, Saunil, Foxmen, Papu, Otters and the list goes on and on. As well as other suggestions like half-dragon people in a previous post.

Wouldn't it be cool if there was a class that could embody all of these? And I don't mean an Frankestein-monster amalgamation thing.

I mean a class with its own weapon and skills, but the face and body presets are all of these creatures. That way we wouldn't have to make a Demihuman Deer class, a Papu Class, a Goblin Class etc. Just one class that can be any of these.

In paper sounds interesting, in practice is a whole different story. I can imagine the custome creation and clipping nightmare lol

Would also be impossible to get an awakening storyline or lore that is proper for each possibililty. Perhaps a class that doesn't have awakening as the norm, but instead something different like Shai and Archer.

Don't take me too seriously, this is just random mind blabber.

My favorite fantasy has always been a witch doctor/shaman type that runs around using potions to enhance themselves but they have some sort of spiritual connection so the drugs they pump themselves with allow them to communicate with the spirits and become feral like the shamanistic creatures they praise or live by.

Half Dragon

Lore: The "golden Dragon" or "God Dragon" or whatever it was that the Guardian got it's power from could have bestowed it's power on other people as well but, the power ended up partially morphing their bodies ( much like the people at Stars End) and the people took on Dragon characteristics.

- Attacks could in include some of the same ones that Garmoth and Nouver use.

- Special attack one: Wings flare out, braces with one foot forward and breaths long range fire, like Nouver.

- Special attack two: Flaps wings, hovering several feet in the air and and breaths a blanket of fire over the area, like Garmoth.

- Special attack three: Wings burst into flames and you hurl yourself forward into a barrel roll of flames, like a horizontal firenado.

- Forward Dash, Bakward Dash and side steps would utilize their wings to propell them. Effects could include a trail of embers from the wings.

- Tail whip attack.

- Specializes in wind and fire magic.

- Could have a Glide ability like the Lahn. Would make more sense.

- Customizations should include glowing horns, fire horns, sets of horns, dragon scales on parts of the body etc.

-Weapon Ideas: Fire whip... To be continued...

Here are some pics I found;

Nice Drakania prediction.
