These new changes to crystal's just killed the game's adventure feel for me.

As a casual gamer, I won't go grind risky content now that there is a chance I might loose a 1.1 billion crystal. I wouldn't grind any content that has a chance of killing me during a lag spike, desync, or to PVP.

Problem:

Before, I would put all my equipment on a dummy alt, and then "tag" my main so I could go and try new grind spots. I'd experiment with rotations. If I died, oh well. If some jerk came by and fed me to mobs (it would happen 100% in a pvp engagement at grind spots like Gyrins, Orcs, etc.), oh well. It was OK and I had fun despite dying and "losing crystals", along with the griefers having their fun killing me with mobs. The point is, I had stress lowering fun. That's now gone.

I would recommend some system to, "insure," or protect your crystals from breaking.

Solution:

The player can take a "potion" to insure their crystals. The player could make this as a potion, draught, elixir, or a new category to expand upon . Each, "fun starts now pot" potion will only last for a limited amount of time, like its counterparts do (potions, draughts, elixirs). The developers could make this item sellable on the Central Market place. Make it require semi-rare components, or a "hundred mil in silver or more" in components. This way, the cost of this, "insurance for your crystals", takes a rough "5-10%" cut from the player's profits but is still worth it in new or dangerous grind zones. You can adjust the potion and its cost of components to combat inflation of silver from grinding and events. Have it last 5hrs. You now have a sweet synergy between tent buffs, church buffs, and this potion that allows you to have fun in new places.

Pop the potion at the start of your grind, and die all you want while you figure things out. Get out and explore BDO. I like that idea.

If you own a crystal worth 1.1 billion silver... you are not casual. 

Maybe equip some DP crystal types.

I disagree. Even if I go with your recommendation of equiping DP crystals or cheaper crystals, now I have several bil in crystals that I can't use in the current system and that sucks and lowers enjoyment.

Thank you for your thoughts, do you feel the current system is fine and is there a solution you would suggest to the problem I highlighted?

Still, the "balance" they made where we can't use more than one armor typre crystal: it's whack.

I hate this new "improvement".

I find this such a elitist answer. If I was only afraid of dying to mobs from my own action's I'd be fine with it. The problem lies in that BDO has 101 ways to kill you, and you have no say in it whatsoever when one of these ways trigger (desync/linkdead/fed to mobs/etc.).

For those of you who can farm multiple hours a day and can go hardcore silver production to recoup billion's in lost silver due to crystal breakages, then sure loosing a billion here or there isn't a big deal. For the rest of BDO's community this is a major problem for the health of the Endgame.  And let's be honest, there is barely a Endgame as is, the developers should be desperate to do anything they can to improve the fun and expand on the Endgame in BDO. Not hurting it more as this does.

A casual gamer like myself doesn't have T1 hardlines to the internet, and powerhouse computers. We have career's, jobs, and family's that eat up our time/resources. We will experence desync's, link-deads, and CTD's in the game and die, breaking crystals. Especially when we're farming hard content. Also, all players will experience griefers that intentionally feed you to mobs in these spots. All of this amounts to crystals breaking in familar places. Add in new grind spots and this gets even worse.

If the game wants to continue allowing us to break billion's in crystals due to lag/griefers/desync/etc., that's fine. But it will greatly expedite the time line to the eventual death of Black Desert Online.

I understand where you're coming from OP, while the system is neat in concept there are some pretty concerning issues such as dying during a disconnection or being mob fed. The issue isn't really the crystals but the overall game itself having issues creating distinctions for such situations. But, one thing that they could do to improve the crystal system if they can't actually fix the underlining issues is to create a progression system to convert existing crystals into permanent or converting crystal slots into permanent slots. Either way the solution would work. Alternatively some games have used an insurance system where you buy insurance to prevent your gear from breaking. Perhaps such a system could even extend for red players if they buy it in a "red city" but obviously at a much higher price than "blue players". I could go on about this but it's straying from the originanl topic.

There are ways to make this system better and perhaps much better ideas than those that I suggested. OP is right that there is an underlining problem and the risk is obsenely high for the reward. But until (if) they ever improve upon this system, swap to a less expensive set if you're in a zone which might be too dangerous. It wont protect you against disconnection deaths but playing co-op with a friend can help as "insurance". It's not much but it's all that I can think of right now.

I would just like to see exactly how many people really wanted a change like this.  It's been said that people have been asking for it for ages, but.... I didn't see much buzz about it.  All I saw were complaints that classes were unbalanced, and that DP was worthless in PvP.  Oh, and that PKing was an issue.  Otherwise, I didn't see a lot of hype about crystals in threads on PvP.  Again, I have to ask: was PVP really that broken?  And what are we going to do with all these crystals we can't use now, due to there being 5 presets?  I was using quite a few for my characters, with the exception of Boss alts.

I feel that this change (few presets, new "balance" of crystals) is not for the good of this game, especially PvE.  If it is, could someone please explain to me exactly how it is?  If it REALLY helps in PvP, I would appreciate knowing it.  Then I wouldn't have to express my frustration in these threads, and I can accept the fact that I'm being stunned, and knocked down far more than before, for the sake of other player's improved game experience.
