Problem is how it's presented leaves much to be desired making "gotta go R fast" the way. Honestly I don't even know how to fix it other than make it more engaging (ie: Mass Effect, etc) and get rid of pointless quests in a full quest line, make everyone feel like it has more purpose. Also forcing it down peoples throats doesn't seem to work much as we've seen with Eternal Winter.
After doing O'Dyllita again it saddens me that a great story line like this will just be skipped. C'est la vie.
Yeah I agree :( I think the biggest culprit is their clunky UI to be honest, there's so many awkward transitions requiring you to constantly be moving from UI element to UI element, it takes you right out of the experience.
Instead of this:
Press R on NPC -> R to start dialogue -> R to move through actual dialogue -> esc to exit
It should be this:
Press R on NPC -> Read dialogue -> esc to exit
It wouldn't fix the issue entirely but it would help immensely. The rest of the work would just be in cutting out some of the pointless filler, as you mentioned, but honestly that seems to be an issue that plagues many MMOs sadly.
