1)  Private messaging. Kakao forum had this feature where you could send private messages to specific users.  For example, when more "heated" exchanges were made between users on the public forum, the mods there would remove "heated" posts and encourage users to take their battle in private using this feature.

Totally agree with this! I'm gonna edit the post in a bit and include this as well. There are so many threads that are created where suddenly users to on a tangent with one another about something not related to the topic. Being able to have this private messaging system would, hopefully, lower that spam within threads and not have arguments out to the public.

Imo PA can do whatever but id prefer functional stuff instead of fluff.

Everyone's got their own thoughts, just posting my own suggestion on how forums can be improved as a whole and seeing what the community thinks as a whole. Everyone's got their own opinions and in the end it's up to Pearl Abyss to decide what they wanna do.

Hi I am a forum dweller since Kakao forums.  I have a good amount of downtime at work where I can't play and the forum helps keep me connected to my favorite video game when it gets boring here.  Hence, why i have so many posts here lul.

Love and agree with all your suggestions.  It's odd because Kakao forums had some of these features that you described.  Things like notifications.

Along with your suggestions, I'd like to throw in a few other things that could make the forum a better user-experience.

1)  Private messaging. Kakao forum had this feature where you could send private messages to specific users.  For example, when more "heated" exchanges were made between users on the public forum, the mods there would remove "heated" posts and encourage users to take their battle in private using this feature.

2)  Show the names of users who liked and disliked posts. Kakao forum also had this feature, instead of the totally anonymous up/downvote system PA forums have.  I feel showing who liked and disliked posts is important because it shows which ideologies certain users align with.

3)  About unlinked accounts.  You mentioned that forum accounts are linked to our in-game ones.  I might have misread, but not all forum accounts are linked.  There are a good amount of non-linked accounts who post here, some more frequently than others.  In an effort to not invalidate free-speech, I do not think unlinked accounts shouldn't be able to post here, but with your suggestions of a custom profile picture and showing in-game titles, I feel that suggestion would help visitors determine who's on a linked account versus who's on an unlinked account.  Knowing who's a forum-linked account to an active in-game account is important in the sense of community.

Community building is important and I feel the forum is a good additional way to do this.  Here's to making the forum a better place!

For the disliked posts, i'm on the fence on this. I'm not a fan of social network downvotes because it promotes negativity and gives people the impression that they shouldn't post anymore and it gives anonymous people the power to cause grief. The reason why social networks use this ie: reddit is for the sole purpose of causing drama and hivemind mentality because with drama means more people will interact with each other meaning more views which translates to ad revenue. But on the other hand, downvotes are necessary when someone is clearly in the wrong but just because you think someone is wrong doesn't mean they are. One person could downvote a post and the rest of the people could join in like without reading the post. So whether or not downvotes are good here, I don't know. I see more negatives to this than positives but I think a good compromise maybe is to not allow people with unlinked accounts to vote.

It could very well play a positive role though but I think people who only downvote threads or at least downvote the majority of the time should be automatically flagged for forum griefing and reviewed. Some people do nothing but downvote. But hey, votes don't really matter in the end, what matters is the discussion.

I don't know why unlinked accounts are permitted to post on these forums. If an account is unlinked, they should only be able to post in a special forum reserved for them. Linking accounts is evidence that you're not from a competing game and aren't here to just troll or cause problems. Unlinked accounts also spam a lot. They may appear innocent at first but then several weeks later, they will come back and edit their original posts and put farm links. I think that they should add more privacy features to accounts but require each member to have a linked game account. Meaning if you don't want any of your game info to be shared, then you can choose not to, however you'll still be required to have your account linked with your game.

I just checked all the mentioned sections and they are compared to general and feedback, dead.

What will custom profile give to PA? They have to control and review every pic permanently. With the event its for a limited time and it is a farm for traction on their site.

Titles ingame seem pointless to me and even more pointless on forums, this will just waste their time for what exactly?

Will more ppl go to their site because they have custom pics and titles? NO those ppl are already there!

There is a reason why the forums are bare bones.

Imo PA can do whatever but id prefer functional stuff instead of fluff.

It's enjoyable. I don't remember how many forums I've built over the years for companies but the things being requested are things that take little-to-no time to add but give exitement for the users especially if they are proud of their titles or what-have-you.  BDO is a role playing game, the forums is supposed to be an extension of this. You would be surprised how much people appreciate these little things. It's not always about PA, it's about the customer and bringing joy to them. The more happy they are, the more likely they are to engage in a positive manner and tell their friends about how great of a community it is. Every suggestion so far, I could do it in a full day's work. That's not exactly budget breaking for the QoL and joy it could bring.

If they wanted to change anything, they would have done it a long time ago.
there are already plenty of topics for suggestions and even in the comments
it's been like this for 2 years, it's not by taking 1% of the players' suggestions with your amassador tag that it's going to change anything
And as some said, it's the same forum for all regions so if you suggest something on EU/NA and CM Mena doesn't like it, you'll never get it

Good simple search, interesting results.

Changes shouldn't even be suggestion based, at least for the basics.  Just needs to use some standard forums package, then do a bit of integration work.  *Then* come all the suggestions for customizations.

But - migrating forum content is a bit of a pain.  Integrations are too.  Then again, adding "standard" features to what appears to be a custom forum is too.  It's work all around.  Depends on where they want to invest resources.  Not sure forum work competes with game work.  But investing in the communication tools that also feed into the game work is important.

This sort of thing is always a tough sell, since there's no direct ROI link.  But PA does seem to prioritize communications (at least gives it a lot of lip service). So maybe they'll get around to this. It's good that repeated posts keep it on the radar periodically.

I'd be happy with just not being signed out of the forum every 30 minutes. The rest are fine suggestions though.

A couple small ones here. I'll try to include more as they come to mind :)

1) Drafts. It's very difficult writing long-form threads without the ability to create a draft, especially when the site is constantly logging you out x.x

2) Show the number of favorites on a post. I feel like this would be a fairly simple thing to implement but would be another great tool for gauging community interest on various topics.

I like the drafts thing and didn't notice there as a favorites button til you said it lol. Going to try it out and see what it's like. By the way, I'm sure you've seen my lengthy posts, but how do I manage? Before I click on submit on those long posts, I open a new tab by right clicking on anything like a main menu item and open as new tab. It will log me in and if it didn't, i will login again and press submit. Although the 30 minute thing is pretty annoying but it's better than the 5 minutes they used to have. >.<
