You could introduce another form of AoS matchmaking aside from practice and ranked.
In this mod you could add special rules to PvP. For example: "This month in Special matchmaking all SA is disabled." It's jsut an example, you could do all kinds of things.
Knowing seasonal only features from other games. This would be great opportunity to try out some extreme PvP changes and see what players think without breaking the game. This might also be more appealing to players who spend a lot of time with game and it became rather monotone.

No need of another mode that makes your class feels diferent. Class "balance" is enough...

Never talked about class balance but PvP in general. Game is far from its maximum potential in pvp. And then the large amount of exploits. Maybe they can't fix game engine, but they can change pvp to fit that engine or something like that.
