If you lock your minimap, it stays in a proper orientation, and the character's field of vision whenever the turn, acts as the needle.

I think OP's point was to add a number so that precise headings could be read/set.

General Settings -> Misc. -> Rotate Minimap
As others have said, turn that off and north is always north.
If you wanted 360 degree markings on the minimap, perhaps make your post clearer.

I would actually like to have a Wheel Overlay on the map that tells you at least N, E, W, S.
Ye locking the minimap helps a lot with navigations for sure and a rotating minimap is the worst thing you can have especially in the desert...but an overlay would help some ppl to get it right after. There are overly many ppl in this game that have trouble with left and right and even more with eat and west.
