I agree that this is a problem that need solving, but I'm not sure I'm on-board with the proposed solution. I feel that making the drop chance equal across all mobs would remove the satisfaction felt when encountering/killing an elite monster.

Instead, what they could do is massively reduce the chance of the elites spawning, but also increase the chance of Crystallized Despair dropping from them. That way, people would continue feeling that the elites are worth killing/feel happy when they spawn, but without there being a reason to go out of their way to hunt for them across the map. The elite spawns could also be made personal to remove the risk of them being stolen by other players.

Well. The main problem is that the Commanders dropping despair (elite is an exaggerated name) are far too weak for such a drop rate, with a decent stuff they get killed nearly as fast as regular mobs.

They should simply become a kind of middle ground between regular mobs and the spawning elites, and the whole "elite rotation" would become far less interesting, bringing a little bonus to classic rotation grind while preventing such a race on commanders.

problem is mobile classes can do this and immobile ones as usualy it goes in bdo, can go suck on thier thumbs and cry in the corner.

I think a better suggestion would be to make the elites only spawn after someone has grinded in that rotation for a little bit. So your kills of normal mobs affect how many elites you get in that hour. It would force normal rotation grinding to be the best method at that spot.

In the TW patch notes, a nerf for Saunils has been added (we will get it with todays maintenance too most likely)

That is what I was trying to get at when I said "make them personal", which would only happen if it's made as an RNG drop while grinding.

Anyway, they decided to go with a partially similar approach as suggested in this topic. It seems like the saunil commanders were given too much reliance for the despairs, hence the 310% buff for other mobs.

Hello, Tansie!

Thank you for bringing this subject regarding how certain Adventurers were only going after elite monsters in the Elvia Saunil Camp to our attention.

As announced in our May 10 patch notes [here], we've changed the drop rates of Crystallized Despair and Agris Fever consumption points for certain monsters to emphasize the intended appeal behind the monster zone.

Thank you for your valuable feedback.

The real conundrum with this issue is that both hardcore pvp players and casual players will destroy a game if you lose your sense of direction and give either group everything they want. In the case of casuals if you make content so free and easy to access than any inmput on your part is an afterthought then the inner workings of the machine fall away and people see it for the skinner box that it is. nothing seems like it has any value and people lose investment. (retail world of warcraft.)

On the other side if you make the game incredibly punishing and hard to approach then new players simply stop trying the game out. You poison the well of anyone who could try the experience and as the old blood moves on your game will slowly die out.

I think BDO is a game the ultimately lost sight of the experience they wanted to provide. In my opinion it was supposed to be an open world grindy MMO where world pvp and GvG conflicts allowed players to fight over the right to farm in the most profitable areas. There was no endgame to be seen other than making your gear as good as it can be so you can bash someone else over the head with it.

Ultimately though the game has moved far far away from that direction to be more acommodating for the casual playerbbase. ..but they still dont have anything in the way of content to appease those players. no dungeons or coop content other than a few underperforming group grind areas with olun being the big exception.  Now that the game is split down the middle, Both sides of the game are weak. Im nto sure if there will ever be a way to repair either side enough to be a fulfilling experience. People just continue to play because of sink cost or addiction, or they have a social center built here.

Welp. Since I apparently can't post a new topic about Saunils after the mechanics because the 'new topic' button is completely missing. I'll post it here and hope someone sees it.

So after your mechanics change, the spot is absolutely trash. I don't see what PA was hoping to accomplish with this spot. The elite farming issue was fixed when you nerfed captains, commanders and tower even though towers was unecessary while buffing the rest of the mobs. Only to nerf the regular mob drop rate, remove packs and make it so you only get elites seldomly after a tower event, while apparently buffing those elite mobs but not really because you already nerfed them into the ground where anything but a reverting of the 40% nerf you originally applied so that 1.5 to 3 times increased drop chance depending on the elite effectively did little to nothing.
