New classes have really cool backgrounds in the character selection screen. For example, Nova and Sage have really sharp, high resolution backgrounds, with dynamic effects (snowfall or floating kyves). Maegu has the majestic fox behind her and it looks amazing.
By contrast, older classes have static, low resolution, or even no backgrounds. Some of them don't even make sense. Some look really pixalated and others have really weird brightness. For example, Shai's background is really odd and there's something wrong with the colour palette. The original four classes have no backgrounds. There is something wrong with the brightness in Archer's and Hashashin's backgrounds. It's weird that Guardian's background is static when Nova's isn't. Etc
It's like every background was made by different teams using completely different assets and standards, and as such the quality is really variable... Also there is no unifying theme.
It would be great if backgrounds could be of comparable quality. Some need to be touched up with better colour palettes or adjusted brightness, others had some dynamic effects added to them, and others straight up replaced. We could even get the option to choose between a couple of backgrounds.
Having attractive backgrounds really sets the mood when logging into the game and would have a positive effect.
It does look like different teams made those backgrounds.
Older classes such as Sorc, Valk or Musa seem to have fully 3d backgrounds with their corresponding assets. For example, you can even see the shadows that the braziers from Valk's background are casting on the other elements.
The rest of the classes just seem to have a static image as the background with some particles overlayed on top of it. For example, you can see a few leaves falling down in the background for Lahn and Witch. I think most of these look pretty bad, but by far the worst one is the one for Striker, you can almost see the individual pixels on the target dummies behind him.
They should definitely update those backgrounds and IMO make them all 3d with dynamic elements.
Good catch, I think that's what I subconsciously noticed as well. Some backgrounds are 3D while others are 2D and just look odd.
Any thoughts on this?
